How much extra work are two dogs compared to one...?

If she's coming from abroad the size may be a guesstimate (or wishful thinking). A friend adopted a "small" dog from Romania aged 9 months. I was suspicious from the photos on the site as she had a lot of knuckle, and sure enough the dog is the size of a labrador male.
As mentioned above makes sure she is tested for leish and brucellosis, and also that you have rescue back up.

She's in Holland currently so yes I would make sure she's tested for Leish and Brucellosis. From the photos she looks small but maybe not 45cm small, her legs look a bit longer!

We have to wait and see if we are accepted first, she's had a lot of interest. Aware that she's unlikely to just slot straight in, and we've had a rescue dog before we had Clover (he was elderly and unfortunately he wasn't well so we didn't have him long) but we are willing to put the work in :)

I have had a two and a three, either was fine, but I think at least one has to be a steady obedient sort. The ones we have now are both the same age, but the last was re homed with no training and he was six months in training, now they are a double act.

Thank you for your input everyone :) If this dog doesn't work out we will look at UK rescues. It's just really important to me that any rescue dog has been completely cat tested which can be difficult unless they are living in a foster situation (like this dog is). But not impossible!

Well...she's here! Not the dog I was talking about in this post but another one they thought was more suitable. She's settling in really well and just wants a cuddle all the time. The first meeting with Clover went so well, they just wanted to play (play bowing at each other) and there's a lot of bitey face going on 😅 They are mostly separated unless we are with them.
She's a bit food possessive but that's easy enough as we just separate them for meal times. I will be getting a dna test done for her just to see what she is!

She is adorable and not helping my puppy broodiness! 😍

Do it...! She's 3 in June (i'm guessing it's a guessed birthday but it also happens to be the same day as OH's!) She's tiny 😍 I can't believe how well they are getting on, it does help that Clover just loves everyone and is so easy going.

Oh I thought she was a youngish puppy. That makes her even more adorable!!

She's still doing so well! She's fully house trained which is excellent and she's picked up sit, stay and come here (in English 😅) very well. She's so good with Neville, she's hardly glanced at him but he's a bit unsure still so it'll be a while until he's comfortable around her but that's fine, it was the same when we got Clover. He'll come round when he realises she's not a threat!
They're fully together now, although we haven't left them fully alone yet (just upstairs/downstairs) and they just love to cuddle up together on the sofa. The first day Pepper did growl a few times at Clover but that's all sorted now and we haven't heard her growl since.
Her background is that she was picked up as a stray in Georgia, she has a passport from there with her starting vaccinations and showing she was neutered, she was in a rescue but they couldn't find her a home so she was dumped back out on the streets :( she was then picked up by the rescue we got her from, who took her to a foster home in Holland. She works closely with a registered charity in England to bring dogs over. She was in Holland for around 2 months living wit 6 dogs and 5 cats whilst she got her vaccines done, passport, Brucella and Leish tests, given the all clear then we got it touch!
So she's had a tough time but she's so lovely. She's very wary of cars and does walk on the lead but she's obviously anxious and pulls a lot so we are only doing very short walks for now, always with Clover for guidance as nothing phases her!
I was reading the other thread about rescues and it was important to me that we got a dog that was 100% with cats which is why we picked her, and I did a lot of looking into the background of the rescue to ensure they did everything correctly. They asked for a video on inside our home and garden and we have a signed contract with them in case anything did happen. She has an EU passport that is signed by vets that you can find online (so contactable!). She's such a nice little dog, I'm so glad we got her :)
