It all depends on the age, the size at maturity and the breeding.
What exactly are you looking for?
(I know Foresters, not Exmoors)

I think Fleur100 breeds New Forests.. you could maybe PM her..

local level showing? county level??

You could pay anything from £80 for a weaned foal to 4 grand for a 4yo...

It's a bit like how long is a piece of string..

The NF sales are a good place to buy nice ponies (they had one this week) but you have to know what you are looking for. Prices are reasonable but not cheap. Then there are the NF breeders (like me) around the country where you will pay a bit more but can be assured of the youngsters background and they would help you buy one suitable for the level of showing that you want.
Why don't you contact a NF breeder near you & go along. They are usually only to glad to help anyone interested in NFs.
Other places to look are www.newforestpony.co.uk and www.newforestpony.com

PM if you need more info....

At the Brendon sales last October, Exmoor fillies were going through the auction ring for £80 to £150, the colts were about £50 to £100. All pure moor-bred Exmoors, registered, passported and hot branded. They are probably the wildest youngsters you'll see in the UK, it takes time and patience to get them handled ( I know, I bought a colt), but you are rewarded with having a very intelligent, affectionate and hardy pony.

Personally I think it's a disgrace that the prices are so low for a rare breed that has been carefully preserved. The rough way that the youngsters are handled on first contact with people makes them even more difficult to work with later on, and it puts buyers off, but that's just my view.
