I am starting to vaguely look into getting a small Used lorry. I genuinely have no idea how much to budget for, havent even started trawling the classifieds..

How much do I need to realistically be thinking?
To carry 2 horses (neither exceeding 15.2hh and both travel fab any direction etc)
Small living area
Driven with standard UK license
Budget obv as small as possible, not worried about looks or unecessary extras, but will not compromise on safety & stability.

I suppose it depends on weight of the horses and how much payload the smaller lorry will have.
My 3.5 tonne only has a tonne payload, so that wouldnt carry two 15.2 cobs for instance but maybe...and i mean maybe 2 lightweight tb's. But if you go up to 5t lorry you may have a little more to play with.
When you say car licence, are you able to drive up to 7.5 tonnes on grandfather rights or did you pass your test after 1997 which would mean you could only drive a 3.5t?

Im selling my lorry which is about 16 years old for about 5k, so this would be a sensible budget for a lorry which doesnt need to much doing to it, bigger lorries are going for less as there is not such a demand for them :)

I'm selling my 3.5ton at the moment but, as Trubie says, although you could fit two 15.2s into it you wouldn't be legal on your weight. To carry two horses in a reliable 3.5ton you're going to need to look at one of the much newer models. I'd say you're looking at 12k minimum.

Although if I could persuade you that you only wanted to carry one horse at a time I know of a lovely, very reasonably priced, little lorry for sale....
