Ive decided to do my own Hay this year ( for my sins like i need anymore stress lol).
Last time i did my own stuff it was Haylage & it was over 7 years ago.:o I stopped doing my own because of the time & effort & stress of getting contractors in ( they where always late).

This year for some reason im over run with grass:eek:.

So can any of you tell me rough prices you pay, for the Cut, turning & baling of the Hay (small Bales).

Thank you.:D

we paid £1200 a couple of years ago to have 12 acres cut. We got 87 4 foot bales of haylage off it which worked out at just under £14 per bale.

Edit - small bales cost more to cut due to more work being involved.

Three years ago I paid 80p for a small bale to be cut/turned/baled/collected in. I now make 4ft haylege bales which were £10.50 each last year. The haylege is much less stressfull and easier for me as its all tractor work.

It varies, try get a price off someone local, all areas are diffrent, its normaly between 80-90p around here although last year i had a couple in the early 90's but that was due to travelling too, never had it over a quid yet!
