I might have to move my horses and was thinking of abandoning them (in the loosest sense of the word;)) in a field for the summer.
Said field is bigger than an acre but probably not quite 2, don't think it has water supply and in a village in Yorkshire. It is owned by an old school friend's parents, so how much do you think I could cheekily get away with asking to rent it for??:o

No water is a nightmare and I suspect the field isnt big enough. If we have a blazing summer you will be lugging gallons and gallons or water every single day to a dried up brown sand pit.

£10 a week?

Ditto, having had experience of bringing up water before the mains was put on I would never again carry it from home. Its amazing how much they get through when it hot.

In terms of cost I'd say no more than £15 per week.

I've rented a field for 10 years and still have to lug water containers now... not easy but it depends what you need and if its short term... I would suggest half standard livery costs to rent grazing alone. just my opinion. If its a friends parents - maybe they just need a free lawnmower or 2 over the summer ;) in which case you keep the fields tidy and clean in return to graze it? :)

Thanks Spaniel.
I agree that no water will be a nightmare and I'll probably run out of grass but I have a feeling my life is about to spiral out of control and I will be left with no option:(. I might try and loan them out, but it's not what I want and I may be moving quite quickly so won't have time to sort a loan out straight away but will think about that for the future.
Sorry, I'm making my situation sound much more exciting and ominous that it actually is:rolleyes:, it's just a horrendous relationship mess and I just want to curl up and die :( £10 a week sounds good tho :D

know where your at with the relationship thing, i'm in the same situation myself but going to try my best to keep the horses.
if it was my field i would be charging £10 - £15 a week

I rent a 3 acre field, with water supply, for £20 per week. For a smaller field with no water would offer between £10 - £15 per week....
