Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone knows how much show pony production is nowadays? Would be looking to send a top class pony for schooling for a month or so before the season starts as it's looking like we will be stretched for time and at 5'11 I'm not sure said small pony would thank me for climbing aboard 😝

We are based in the north in case that has any impact on prices!

A lot!
Joking aside it sounds to me as though you're less looking for show production and more at schooling livery which would be more reasonable than full production and you wouldn't necessarily need a show producer for this.

Where in the North? If it is schooling rather than show production @Hallo2012 produces dressage ponies to a high level and could maybe come to you if you are northwest?

If you're NE and the pony is very small I know a very small adult producer near me.
I've never used her but many friends have and she gets good results.
Oh and a photo would be lovely too 😊

For show pony schooling as opposed to full production I’ve paid anywhere between £80 and £150 a week (small ponies under 12.2) i probably think realistically you’re looking to closer to the £150 mark though.

Full pony show production around £200 a week plus show expenses.

I’d definitely recommend sending sooner rather than later for schooling livery though as when show season prep starts I’ve found there’s been less time for schooling liveries and on one or two occasions I’ve been paying good money for my pony to have minimal attention.

Does anyone know anything about Playn Acre Farm show production, near Worcester. I’ve googled them, not heard anything negative so I suppose that’s good. I would just like some first hand knowledge. Pm if you’d rather not put it on here. Thanks.
I’ve not heard anything negative either. They seem to have some nice ponies through their hands and seem to do a thorough job with them

Would possibly just look at schooling livery but more keen as a producer as keen for her to be schooled with a focus on the ring as she's really tip top hoys material - have tried to attach a photo but doesn't seem to work for me! We were thinking Craig Elenor, Jinks, Emmersons or someone similar but if you have someone you can recommend please let me know! Pony is 12.2 :)

Ah that's a great guide, we have always produced ourselves but just don't have a small enough jockey currently to bring on a green pony so that is great to know a rough price point, thank you!

We definitely need to sort ourselves out and get her away sooner rather than later but embarrassingly she's rather plump and feral at the moment 😅

Any of those you have mentioned would do a great job I'm sure 😊
Jennifer Cowan is very petite and has schooled a lot of smaller ponies for breeders.
Is your pony a native or a riding pony?
If RP what is her breeding? (Out of curiosity as my mum breeds LRs and FRs)

Ah yes also know of Jennifer, was thinking of her for a Sec A that we need backed actually!

This mare is RP, she's Beckside Little Toff out of a Barkway mare :)

Lovely! Do you have your own jockey for her when she returns?
We do but she's also a tad green! We had been looking for a keen young jockey with a bit more experience but no luck, so hopefully with the rest of the winter full of riding and sending pony away for a few weeks they should be ready for each other! However, if you're in NE and know of a capable jockey wanting to do the 128s this year do shout!
