How much for TB?

The time has come to sell my TB on, it was always the plan that she would be sold as soon as i start my youngster.
TB is coming 6, shes very fit and very forward at the moment. She hacks out alone and in company, sensible in traffic, her flat work is not 100% but shes improving and is starting to work in a consistent outline and use her back end. She loves jumping and is very keen xc, we did a few hunter trials last year and a few dressage tests to get her out and about. She has good conformation and is more of a middleweight type. She has good feet and perfect manners, she loads and travels well. She hasn't raced but was bred for it. She has been cubbing and seen hounds.
How much should i advertise her for?? would £2500 - £3000 bracket sound about right???

I would say somewhere in that bracket. I have been looking around for horses as my friend is looking to buy and the ones in that bracket seem to be very similar. The only downside maybe the fact she doesnt work consitently in the school but at 6 she is still young and that can be worked on.
 
How did she do in competitions? Does she have any wins?

TBH I think you will struggle to get that for her in the current financial climate.
 
TBH there are alot of TB's out there at the mo, and they aren't fetching that much.....the fact she hasn't raced will knock her out of the ROR classes so will put off some buyers....not all.
I think you'll get between £1500 and £2000, i do hope you get more, if she has wins and places to her name from the HT's last season then that will definatly help her price.

Well to be honest that does sound a bit ambitious at the moment. One of the women on my yard has just sold her TB and it was a very competent, experienced all round horse that has placed in trials and raced for £1500.

Maybe make the price a little more realistic for the horse you are selling and see how you go. you dont have to sell to the first person who offers.
 
About 5 years ago when the selling climate was good. I sold a 9 yr old ex race horse who had evented to novice level with me, was bombproof in every way, perfect hunter, won dressage, SJ and was a XC machine for £2500! He did have an old injury but passed a 5* vetting. Your competing against ex racers with a TB, I would say around £2000 or a bit more if not consistent in the school! People want alot for there money at present and a TB is not cheap to keep!!

Hmmmm i hear what you are saying.......in two minds whether to loan her out and see how it goes.....i know its difficult selling horses at the moment and i suppose a TB is not that desirable :(

before you write yourself off, have a look on all the ads in H&H, horsemart, freeads etc, and see what other people are asking for their TBs.
That should give you a better idea.
 
I think with all the horse has done - more than most of the horses being advertised in excess of £5k, you should advertise for about £4500 in the hope of getting around £4000, as long as horse is clean limbed, it sounds great. Good luck - don't let people start beating you down just because it's a TB.....for some reason people seem to think non descriptive beasts which have done a bit of prelim and can jump 2ft are worth about £5k, but because it's a TB it's only worth £2k?? Anyone who is wanting something to event will be looking at the higher price brackets, and will be looking for a TB, and it sounds like yours will turn out to be a good eventer. Good luck!
 
I agree with HH ^^^ I dont see why a Tb should be priced lower than something not Tb doing the same job!! I had a Tb ex racer with Sadlers Wells blood lines, lovely wee horse but he didnt really have the brain for xc. He was more a sj/dr type lol :p Shee sounds like a good wee horse, has she done any xc? If shes a nice build and has ability then i dont see why you shouldnt get atleast 3k for her.
 
Probably because not all tb are raced or even bred for racing althrough admitedly most are. I used to own one that had been bred privately from an old favourite tb mare.

I agree with holly hocks too however I would wait a couple of months for the spring market.
We easily sold my friends ex trotter last spring 7yo very green could not canter, pretty but not that scopey, lovely temperament and safe hack for 1.8k . I would expect your tb to go for a lot more!

I agree to look around and see what others are ADVERTISED for doesn't mean they are being SOLD for that amount though sadly. :(

We aren't saying that a TB should make less money than another horse that can do the same they should get the same if not more, we are all saying there are alot of TB's out there, some that will be cheaper and do the same.

If you read the OP then you'd see she said she was bred to race but didn't hence why the question 'why did she not race was asked', we all know not all TB's are bred to race or race, she was mearly asking a question that was relevent to the OP.

I really wish you all the luck in selling her, to a lovely home. I have a TB myself and I rate them highly, i'd never have anyhting else now. :D
