How much for this mare as a broodmare??

[ QUOTE ]
This is a tricky one,
Spider is a lovely type of mare and she has produced a lovely foal too, add to the the CQ connection and there is obviously a lot in her favour as a breeding mare.
That said, she herself, I'm sure you will agree, hasn't really lived up to expectations under saddle. That may be just a personality clash between you and her and under different circumstances she may have produced the goods? Who knows? Also do I vaguely remember that she had her hocks operated on for suspensory issues (I apologise hugely if I'm wrong on that).
I just think at the moment if you are advertising as a broodmare a serious breeder will really want to find out all the extras before parting with a lot of money, so I would say 2.5/3K really I'm afraid. In your shoes I would advertise as a ridden horse with good broodmare potential down the line, then you would see a better price tag.

No she didnt have anything wrong with her hocks, but did have a field injury to do with that which is why she was put in foal in the first place, but was then given the all clear to come back into work , we just thought having some more time off wouldnt hurt her.

Also she has evented up to PN, I agree she hasnt done amazingly, but she has done a bit, alot of broodmares ive seen advertised havent done anything at all and they are priced at £2,500

I was in quite a similar position with my mare, albeit she was a dressage horse rather than eventer. Again i echo what everyone has said about the prices for broodmares being pretty poor considering they are repsonsible for the next generation!
My only advice is to not consider a breeding loan, i've had my fingers horribly burnt by going down this route.
I'm sure given her very good breeding that if you are determined to sell her you will find someone out there interested, you just need to advertise her in the right place at the right time. Good luck.

The problem nowadays (and especially in the current economic climate) is that decent broodmares are a dime a dozen. I know of excellent mares who have competed to a high level themselves, are blue blooded and have also thrown good foals already to decent stallions...and they are for sale for £2000 and not selling as people want to pay less! I know others who have picked up many excellent broodies this year and not paid over £1k for any of them.

So I think that that will be where your major problem is. If you are lucky and the right person comes along, then you might well have no trouble getting that price and she would likely be worth more than double that if she were in full work again. BUT at the moment it is definitely a buyers market, especially with broodmares.
