I've been driving for about a year now, (only a small car) an never towed before, but I'd like to know how much it cost and how long it takes (how many hours etc) ?

Most places do an intensive course, which is perfect for those who haven't towed before.

I see you're from Nottingham, I shopped around and the cheapest I found was JW Smithurst, I passed my test first time with him aswell. I can't remember exact prices, but it was around £300 for 10 hours, plus around £120 for the test. I had already been towing before though, so I just needed to praticse the reversing exercises etc. I imagine you would need maybe one more session if you had never towed before.

JenTaz, I have no idea where you live, but thats very cheap!! I got quoted £420 for 4 hours at one place!!

Who ever charged you for that is losing out though, as the test alone with no car hire etc is over £100!

Test is 115 in the week and 140 at the weekend. Lessons are about 30. I have just done mine, no towing experience took me about 12 hours of lessons and two tests - i failed on reversing. but my instructor did a lesson before the test and with the gire of the car it was over 200 for each test with car hire!!

that's very helpful thanks, I am starting to save up now, so would you say £500 in total (training+test) with no prior experience?
daft question but do you do have to have the lesson on your own car? or trailer? did you do an intensive course?
thanks again!
