George is out 8 till 4 at the moment and has about 3 small bales a week.

16h2" Hann x TB, stables at night & still has grass in field eats around 3 bales a week....it will go up it I put hay out in the field.

I am getting through 17 small bales a week for 2 standard Shetlands and 2 Quarter horse crosses!!

The Shetties have half a bale a day and the big uns have 2 bales a day.
I feed it once in the morning and then again at night.

Mind you we have no grazing left and have had snow already.

Is this unusually high?

One round bale lasts 6 horses 4 days! No grass worth speaking of here in their paddocks either Penny, only a frosting of snow so far though.

Aran gets ad lib haylage over night (he's out 8 till 7). He's eating around 5lb per night at the moment and the bale is lasting about 2 weeks (middle sized bale). It's working out at about £5/week (and £1 for straw).
