Trying to work out how much my fees will be for next year for the following:

Renewal of me as a rider and the horse that i competed on last year (was registered with BE)
ALso want to register a new horse with BE that hasnt been registered before.

Is it £110 for me and the first horse, or £110 just for the rider?

Please be gentle with your answers.....im dreading the price shock!!!

Um haven't got rider form in front of me but think it's 110 unless you're a junior. Your horse that's been reg before will be 71, 75, 105, or 144 depending on how many points he has, other horse will be 86, unless you're an RC/Equine Affairs/ PC member in which case it's 71...

I am a BSJA member, but it runs out in march so i probably wont be renewing it, especially as i have the 2 horses now.

Its a shame that they dont do a half year membership, from oct - march - would definately join then!!

Perhaps i should start a petition and show it to the bsja

Totally agree.. i'd also join if they did that!!!
(but to be honest, i kinda thought they already did?? obviously by your post, they don't?)

It's £110 for the rider and £71 for renewal of existing horse or new horse if you are a RC member. So £252. Blimey, that's almost 5 events!!

Perhaps they do a half year membership? I havent actually looked in to it yet.......could put another post up for the bsja experts!

But when you think of it the BE membership IS only half a year unless you do the already overpriced JAS.

And when you think of how many events were cancelled this year and how many were ballotted and then the entry fee on top! No wonder we are all broke.

I have had to chose between BSJA and BE for 2007 and have decided to go with the latter despite only getting to one event (horse was only registered for half year and got an injury shortly after the only event we did). SIGH!

BSJA was a total waste of money too and now my membership has lapsed I'm not renewing it. Decided that I no longer get a thrill from trying to warm up in chaotic collecting rings and waiting around so I am sticking to eventing, dressage and working hunter classes in 2007.

It is a shame that the 3 affiliated disciplines can't allow discounts for membership of more than one but I guess that's how they make their money. Its bloody difficult for average one or two horse owner and hardly suprising that so many people are in debt these days!!

It has often been said but it is madness really!!

So many more eventers would do BSJA and BD if there was some sort of discount. I'm sure they would make their money back on the increased number of entries.

Why the three organisations can't work together I don't know.

Why they need 3 sets of rules and 2 sets of dressage tests is beyond me too. Is there ANY good reason why BE can't use BD dressage tests?

I noticed you get a discount for HTSG members - how much is it to join HTSG? As you only pay £77 for BE.
Reading H&H it says how popular BSJA is now wondering if my membership has been a waste of time as I have not had a chance to do nearly as much as I hoped and I hate busy shows so avoid them.

I may be wrong but I think its 100 squid to join HTSG. Or ami I mixed up with the event horse owners club?? Ditto on the busy shows. I used to love it as a teenager but now hate the atmosphere at the BSJA things I go to near me.

I paid, god knows how much, to register with BSJA in march but so far have probably only been about 5 times, never getting in to the jump off so in theory have wasted a lot of money as would have been cheaper to go on tickets!

Trouble is, i need to be jumping pre-novice height sj, and not many unaffiliated courses go up past 3ft, plus very rarely are they up to height. trailblazers goes up to 105cm but is the last class of the day which does not appeal!!

I think i may just concentrate on gridwork at home, and hiring out arenas with jumps so at least i can have more practise jumping the courses, and not hang around for 5 hours to go over 9 jumps!!!
