My trailer is a year old and I love it to bits but it's doesn't get used as often as I would like due to the fact that I haven't done my Trailer test so I always need someone to tow it for me.

I am thinking that I may be better off with a small two horse lorry that I can drive myself therefore getting my horse out and about a lot more.

So how much is my Trailer worth?

It is an Ifor Williams HB511 (takes 2 x 17.2hh), 1 year old in Navy Blue.

It has been used no more then 10 times and still in fantastic condition.

It has the following extras

Sliding Windows
Full width Breast / rear bars
Door Mounted tack pack
stowage Net
Wheel Trims
Mud Flaps
Prop Stands
High Level rear break light

Do you think I could sell it easily?

A couple of piccys

I don't think you will have any problems selling it - I would look and advertise on horsequest - should give you an idea of what it is worth.

Also call a couple of trailer dealerships and see what they would offer you so you have an guide (obviously its more for a private sale) as to what to ask.

Why don’t you just do your trailer test rather than going through the mess of selling it and getting a small wagon???

Unless there is a different reason for selling it or you just want a wagon...lol

When I brought the trailer I though I could get myself insured on my mums 4x4 but when we looked into it I would have to have paid £1000 which I just can't afford.

Another reason is even though my horse travels OK it takes two people to load him because he shoots backwards, if I brought a lorry I would get one with a side ramp so I didn't have to rely on other people to help all the time.

And the final reason is I think I will find it easier to drive a small lorry rather then towing a trailer

You should get near enough what you paid for it back. They sometimes go for more than they are new onebay for some reason. Think it might be because you can get them cheaper in some places.

HC2, sorry don't know how old you are but agree re the insurance before my 25th on my parents it was going to be £800

having done my test am driving it 3rd party on my insurance, current parents insurance won't take anyone under 30! but up for renewal in Nov and think we can do it for approx £100-150 extra on top of what they pay. (am 26 now)

Don't know price though sorry.

Ester I'm 22 and at the time I didn't have a years no claim which I think is why it was so high. Mums car is a beast though so I would be scared to drive it anyway, it will take a lot of getting used to.

I'm not definitely going to sell it I am just looking at my options

Ah yes, it is going to take a long time for it to get cheaper for you then.

Think I had 2 years no claims but still an accident on my recent record (£500 claim) when quoted the £800.

thats why I waited till I was over 25 to do my trailer test as it was pointless before then.

I know the hb506 second hand ones are going for 3.2k, so maybe like 3.3k to 3.5k

Eek, I though I would get a bit more then that for it

i sold my hb510 at 3 years old for £3000 and i paid £3500. i would put it on for about £3800 they really hold there value. With regards to your licence my trailer test cost me £600 for a 3 day intensive course so i took my test on the last day. if your not confident even driving your mums car without a 10foot trailer behind you i would not entertain the idea. you may be best with a little 3.5 tonne but they are pricey and you have the added cost of tax etc

Hi
i had the same problem as you, my horse used to rush out the back, so i bought an equi trek sport, he loves this and has traviled in it for the past 5 years, I was searching google to see what it is worth as i'm thinking of buying the 511 at the end of the season, shame you can't tow we could have swapped :)
