how much is you equine dentist?

i paid £110 today for extensive rasp and 2 wolf teeth out, we were at the vets with a vet in attendance. she was sedated twice and local anaesetic too.

i have not been billed for sedation and local yet just for dentist work

rasp was £85 and wolf teeth extraction £25

i thought wolf teeth extraction charge was very low and it took around an hour for both

but £85 for a rasp

she needs to be seen 6 monthly and it seems a hell of a lot of money for a rasp.

i will ask at vets thurs when at work, but they may not know.

it may be less for a routine rasp (i hope so) but that must put many people of using him for routine work if all his bills read like that but it is in fact cheaper for a routine rasp.

so how much do others pay?

have edited my post as it was not clear but work was carried out by dentist as my vet is only happy to do straight forward rasp (which this was not0 as he feels EDT has far more experience and knowledge and can therefore do a better job

dentist and yes will need sedating next time but i have some acp and that may be enough

the price did not include sedation or vets time just the dentists bill

My dentist is a qualified vet and has always done a super job. I am really happy with her work and have recommended her to numerous other people. They have always come back to me and said thanks for passing on her details as she has also impressed them with her professionalism, attention to detail and knowledge.

thats what i thought but maybe just as it was so extensive and the next one may be cheaper as it will be a routine rasp?

£35 for rasp and check up, he also removed caps on my youngster when needed she was a real handful and he didnt ask for her to be sedated he is kind and patient and so good with all the horses he must of taken an hour with my filly the first time as she was not an easy horse and bless him he didnt charge me anymore he is also the most popular EDT in the area

£40 per horse for a superb EDT, 2 out of our3 get done every six months, the third is only once a year but on the visit when he isn't floated he gets checked and we don't get charged for that. I don't remember having to pay anything extra for wolf teeth extraction beyond the sedation

We pay £45 & only used him twice as we normaly use another Dentist, but she couldn't fit us in when needed which would mean ours would be well over due & think she was about £45.

I have been really pleased with the new guy so may just stick with him now. He was recommended to use by our physio

Had vet out last time though as she needed a blind wolf tooth out. It was £39.60 for rasp, £43.74 for the wolf tooth out £14.90 for sedation & pain killers & £31.20 for call out so that's £129.44 altogether!
