How much is your wardrobe worth?

Ah! Young lady I have just googled their website, I will mention that you recommended them, I was looking for cheap and cheerful full neck TO rugs, but not too heavy, these seem to fit bill!

They are really good, I initially bought the stable rug off ebay and loved it (fits tb necks really good, none of that slipping back too low on the withers) so impressed I bought the med weight TO then the BIGGEST TO. The med weight has a mega back to it so the tail flap is all integral, and the biggest TO has a huge flap so you feel they are really covered and draft free. Soap wore the biggest one fully clipped in all the snow and was toasty.

Big thumbs up from Team GHE :)

Firewell I certainly don't have pics to beat yours!

Though I did look a sight when I turned up for a lesson, came to zip up my boots and the zip broke, gaffa taped boots is NOT a good look!

I never ride in jeans, but do have some ancient jodhs and some very cheap ones. I finally replaced my age 11 caldene ones when I was 23, and I've still got the replacement pair going strong 7 years later, DH has just taken pity on my and had the zip replaced. (Zip flying low during a lesson is not a good look). My collection of Jodhs does include a pair from aldi and a pair of robinsons requiste robust kids ones (just £15!) and a pair of Dh's that he doesn't like.... :o

As I said my tops are normally free or primark or old. In the depths of winter I have an inherited icelandic knitted jumper that is toasty, especially when teamed with my handmedown helly hanson vest....

My coats are normally decent, I do spent money on goretex etc, although my down coat is a handmedown, and older than me :o but it is warmer than a sleeping bag and brilliant for winter dressage when you are waiting around for your scores in a freezing indoor school!

tut tut must try harder!

Mine is worth sod all im afraid. I used to have loads of gear/matchy match etc but got made redundant, had to sell my competition horse and sold all my gear on ebay apart from my saddle (Wow saddle worth around £1000 now), Bloss's two Bridles (both sabres but old), my Patent Konigs (£900) and my Christies topper (£200).

Bloss wears very old inchs numnahs and the only boots i own are rubber over reach boots for her and 'seen-better-days' jod boots and chaps for me. My hat is also from the stoneages :D Oh, i do have some white eskadron all round boots for competition as i love them and couldnt bare to sell them, and a white le mieux sheepskin numnah for competing.

All my breaches are Mark Todd ones as they are cheap but fit me really well and very comfy :) I ride in whatever top i've worn to work during the day, lol!!!! :D :D I do have a pikeur top and 3 kyra K ones (all bought in the sales!) I never wear them though.

I own a long windproof and rain proof Musto which is fab, a short musto style BD coat, a Kyra K short coat that turns into a gilet aswell and a pikeur rain coat for the summer.

That IS cheap sadly I have to get full necks as my 2 are disgusting and plaster themselves in mud, but to kit out one horse with a m/w and h/w with necks for under £100!!!!! Can't be bad some places I wouldn't even get 1 rug for that!!!!

I really should be on commission for this! hahhahaha ;)

You should definately ask for commission!! Im not fussed about his neck getting muddy, hes only 2 so dosent really bother me, its more just so he dosent get too cold over the winter and its cheap enough that if he trashes it it wont cost me a fortune to get another one (hes not had a rug on before!).

my wardrobe probably about 18pence! Horses wardrobe now thats a different story!!! what with boots, bandages, matchy saddlecloths, different fleeces, thermatex, 8 turnout rugs. It too much to add up.

I have a terrible confession to make. My wardrobe is chock full of Pikeur, Ariat, Mountain Horse and Musto. However, I never, ever wear my really nice stuff. I have some fantastic pairs of Pikeur breeches, those Candela ones in several colours, plus thos nice black/coffee coloured jean breeches by Pikeur. Havent even put them on. I prefer to slop around in my scruffs, and am a bit of a sight really. I went through a phase about a year and a half ago when I spent mega bucks on my wardrobe, not any more. Dont know why, and I am going through them all this weeked to sell some of it on ebay (if anyone is interested in what theoryx2010 has to sell ..........). I even own a Patey (never worn it apart from when it was fitted), thats going for sale, and a pair of bespoke Davies Riding Boots which cost me £650.00 - they are not for sale though.

However, I will not compromise on quality with my hats - have a lovely Charles Owen velvet cap (hate scull caps and those utterly vile motorcycle style sj hants), always wear my Macwets and love Mountain Horse High Rider boots - have lost count of how may pairs I have owned. Always wear breeches though, and the older and scruffier the better. As for tops, prefer tatty old Joules stuff, stained and holey. Lovely.

Reckon I am rebelling against the fact that I am required to wear a suit or a dress and jacket to work, plus high heels. Like a lot of you, I have a thing for designer handbags and totally love Radley handbags - I have 10 of them - how greedy of me.

Oh, by the way, forgot to add, that I possess about 6 riding jackets - two black ones and four tweed ones. The tweed ones look fab with black trousers and a smart shirt for work, or going out with jeans. Had all mine drycleaned and the are going to be the latest additions to my winter working wardrobe. The black ones look fab with tailored shift dresses and a bright scarf. I think of it as 'recyling'. All of them cost in excess of £250 each. God, I am bad.

WOW to that Protuff website... I will be getting matching H/Ws for Trev & my oldie. Altho I foresee o/h getting the wrong rug on the wrong horse, so Trev will have his a**e hanging out & Jen's will be dragging on the floor... Shame they don't do a full neck stable rug or I'd have some of them as well...

Ha ha - I was just thinking about how badly I need to upgrade my wardrobe when I came across this post!!

I am the queen of the ancient holey fleece - two of them are well over 10 years old! Most of my jods are ancient, or v cheapy Tesco ones which I am desperate to replace with nice breeches. Have an ancient pair of Mountain Horse short boots (not sure what model, they look like walking boots) that are cracked all down the sides and let the wet in if its raining but 'still have plenty of wear in them' and they are so comfy I can't bare (or bear? having sp blond moment!) to get rid of them - that I wear with brown half chaps in the summer. Couple of ancient winter coats. I do have two nice pairs of comp breeches but they were also cheap, my hacking jacket was given to me, I got my black jacket and stock shirt of Ebay and my gloves are also from Tesco!

I think the only decent things I own are my Ariat Grasmere's that my darling OH bought for my birthday last year and an australian outback long wax that my parents bought me for xmas years ago - and that I hardly ever wear cos it trips me up!! My hat is pretty knackered too and I really DO need to get a new one as its nearly 10 yrs old and I have come off in it a few times.

Horse on the other hand... Well he's not as bling as some and his tacks pretty ordinary (T4 saddle, bargain £25 leather comfort bridle with piping from german saddlery on ebay) but he certainly has a rug for every occasion and a variety of boots and bandages - most of which he refuses to wear!!

I have way too much! But I would like to say that I've bought very few of my items full price..

5 pairs of boots:

*Cavallo Galant Boots (eBay special, brand new but they didn't fit me.. anyone want them?)
*Sarm Hippique 1700 Series
*Shires Norfolk boots
* Purple Muck Boots
* Tuffa New Norfolk boots

3 riding hats.
Musto snug, JW coat, horseware coat
Loads of Pikeur and Cavallo breeches (got them dirt cheap from liquidation sale)
3 pairs of white breeches
Lots of Equenox tops (liquidation sale)
Joules breeches
Denim Full Chaps
2x KP polo shirts (the shame! but for £7 I'm not complaining ;))

John Whitaker show jacket
Equiport show jacket
Myers-Prytchly tweed
unknown make navy jacket

About 10 equiline shirts, all from liquidation sale.

I sound bad :(

Not a flaming lot!

But who cares. I'm happy, comfortable, don't look like I'm wearing a potato sack and it's practical ;)

My 'expensive' jodhs are shires saddlehuggers and they're awful, much prefer my requisite ones ;) Boots are a £15 pair from robbies, most expensive riding top is my joules polo shirt that was £11 in a sale :p And my coat is Harry hall, £20 in a sale :D

In fact the most expensive thing I wear is my hat which was £85 and could save my life :D

Oh yes, and managed to snag a perfect condition 2nd hand gorringe hacking jacket for... £5! :D

I dread to think...well, actually not too bad. Maybe. Cavallo/Pikeur/Eurostar breeches etc. Actually want a spend up this weekend - new boots for sure and a GPA maybe (finally).

Theory - what size for your breeches?

Thanks xx

my home wardrobe is pretty much my old 'nice' clothes, but my show stuff is quite £££

i thought about this over the summer when it was peeing down with rain and i was standing on the lorry and i had to get off and go jump but i was postponing it as long as possible so the rain might stop. (it didnt). i was moaning and adding up the cost of what my horse and i were wearing and that is was about to get ruined in the wet just to go jump a 2 or 300 pound class.
there was my gear - my boots £400ish, white jods (luckily old ones but still £100), my fav show jacket at 250, then my horse £fartoomuchforahorse, saddle no idea but enough, boots all four nearly £200, bridle and martingale 200 ish, and i couldnt BELIEVE i was about to go and get it all soaked and muddy.

so i swapped the boots for old nasty ones (hers and mine!) which made me feel marginally better but it really makes you think.

my home tack and clothing is literally about to die as it would really upset me over our english winters to use anything worth any money!

Hum... between a fair lot of Pikeur gear, posh dressage boots, zipped and laced leather boots for showjumping, James Locke beagler, Point 2, trad old side-saddle habit....
A fair bit  but built up over time.

Dread to think what all of our families clothing is worth, 5 of us ride.........

but I take great pride in never paying full price for anything to do with horsey clothing, I just love a bargain;)

My equestrian wardrobe is probably worth more than my non-equestrian one, but then again with the exception of handbags (my biggest weakness) I rarely spend lots of money on non-equestrian clothing or accessories.

Let's see....

My most expensive purchase were the made to measure Petrie Anky Elegance brown boots, they were £800 *faints* but so worth it and a much-deserved treat after a semester-long crazy commute :D I had never paid more than £300 for boots previously!

Thankfully, my top hat and tailcoat were wedding gifts (from my then trainer and fellow pupils at the yard); I know the tailcoat (Borso d'Este) was stupidly expensive - £600 - but it's so gorgeous and I will be forever grateful for it! If I had to buy it myself I would have bought a cheaper one, probably Pikeur, so it was much much appreciated.

Then.........GPA hat, 5 pairs of Pikeur breeches, two pairs of Anky breeches, all full seat (obviously). LOADS of Anky coats and gilets, a few Cavallo, Wellesteyn and Pikeur ones, and one NoConcept jacket.

A fair amount. I have a pair of £600 De Niro boots. It would depress me too much to add up the rest.

What's worse though, my non-horsey shoe collection is worth £1000s of pounds and, I'm ashamed to admit, include Louboutins etc. I like shoes. No wonder why I am always broke. :-0 Strangely, I still manage to look really scruffy most of the time.
