Hi,

Just bought some micronized linseed from Charnwood Milling but it doesn't have any feeding guidelines.

Does anyone feed this? Or know how much to feed?

I was also wondering if I have to soak it or anything?

Thank you :)

It purely depends on what you are trying to achieve is your horse really underweight or are you just wantin coat condition & shine?

I just add it to my feed, add sugarbeet & stir, no need to soak.

Ours just have a little for coat and general health so they don't have masses - prob the equivalent of a couple of tablespoons worth each day - not prep needed, just chuck in with their sugarbeet and chaff. If you are wanting to add weight then you can feed up to a couple of cups worth in each feed - increased steadily.

I feed 150g to a normal horse (a small coffee mug) and 300g to my old boy.

Other guidlines say 50 - 100g a day.

Straight in the feed.

No prep necessary.

I also feed 150 g a day. Just chuck it in the feed :)

My boy loves it - will eat it on its own straight from a bucket - and has a lovely shine to his coat.

One should be fine.

You can also feed fenugreek for weight gain, dirt cheap and they often love the taste.

2 glugs for coat shine, 4-5 glugs for weight gain.

You could spend as much money on bottles of supermarket vegitable oil as you could on a bag of hard fattening feed and get better results providing the horse is getting enough quality fibre.

I give mine fenugreek....you can feed up to 30g daily. but not to be used for pregnant mares. only been using it for a week so a bit soon to see any difference, but I am using it for weight gain. smells like curry but my gelding loves it!
