Ok I lost faith in those measuring ways to predict heights as it made my 3 year old who I currently 14.3 in front and 15hh behind turn out 15.3 which I doubt he will.
So I have just bought a 2 year old exmoor filly. She is approx 2 yrs and 3 months and I measured her today at just over 11.3 in front and just under 12.1hh behind. Am I right in estimating that she will make 12.1- 12.2?
Thanks.

Im rubbish with heights but my coloured was 15hh at 3 (and quite level looking) and was 15.3 without shoes at 7/8 when he finally stopped sprouting so your 3yo might come up yet!

So hard to tell. My TB was 15.3hh as a two year old....but as a race horse she is supposed to haev done most of there growing as they are bred to mature early.
She is now 16.1hh a year on. Don't think she'll grow much more 16.2hh i think max. she is starting to fill out ways now, so that suggests her upwards days have slowen right down.

Our 2 yr old Forest x is about 14hh now, don't want him bigger than 14.2hh as he'll miss out on pony classes but still has years of growing to do yet. so who knows.

So not helpful was I?!!!!!!:)

I gave up on those estimating things a long time ago. I suggest you just wait and see!!!

heehee i know it is like that with my spotty 3 year old. i keep telling him will his front end get a move on and catch up with his bum! His bum always seems to get bigger and his front stays the same!
Im hoping for no more that 12.2 with lola though as otherwise i wont be able to show her :(

There are several different ways to tell your horses eventual height other than guesstimating :p

The one I am going to try with Bella is to measure from centre of side of fetlock to point of elbow. Double and add 2 inches. Will be interesting to see if it accurate :p :D Have been reliably informed that it works ;)

Not true. All horses of all breeds mature physically at the same rate. The skeleton is fully grown when they are 6. Mentally is an entirely different matter though! ;)

i tried that with my spotty and it came out 16hh!! he is only 14.3hh in front and 15hh behind now so i doubt he will make that 2bh (3 years 4 months) so that is why i gave up! lol

That only works with foals less than 3 months :(
