I know I have asked this b4 about this horse but circumstances have changed slightly!!

So how much would you pay for a 17hh mare, Good breeding, bred by Jennie Lorristan Clarke, 14yrs old. Good to hack on roads and out in company and on her own, Jumps BN, Disc double clear, BD points (but not many think about 10) Won local hunter trials, would be sold with a wintec saddle and a leather bridle

Thanks!!

I'd have said thats about right! She is 14!

Well this is the thing.

They want her to sell quickly!! So that is why she is that amount.

She would be great for a Novice/nervous person, or a mother and daughter. She has been there and done it and is never naughty

She appears to be a bit of a schoolmistress, she may not have been schooled for a few months but she should quickly get back working correctly. Priced at £3500, that's about right due to her age, you could do alot worse than buying this one, assuming she's sound.

I would want to know that her age is genuine, and have a full vetting as insuring an older horse is harder. But if she is a nice horse with a lovely temperment then I would say the money is about right. (pending the vetting!)
What do you want to do with her??

My friend paid £6k for a 14yo "schoolmaster" type. He is 17hh has lovely paces for dressage, is ok to hack, a total loon to show jump and god only knows what he's like to hunt and XC wouldn't want to try. He has no BD points, no BSJA record no proof of anything. Think he paid far too much and should never have bought him in the first place totally unsuitable oh and he windsucks too.

£3,500 sounds very reasonable going on the above!

I know!!!

I wasn't with him, if i had been i would have said DON'T BUY IT. Have since said he would be better selling it as it doesn't do the job he bought it for which was to help him with his jumping - even i don't like jumping it as it has such a dirty stop. He felt sorry for the woman who was selling it i think so just paid what she asked.

I think that someone will snap this little horse up. She's an absolute bargin at that price. I stand by my original guestimate - I'd certinaly pay around £6k for her.

Lovely.

Hmm well it really depends on how good they really are! Mel is 13 and was 7k and shes as fit and healthy as a 7 year old! Shes worth every penny, can compete to medium dressage, Jump newcomers with her eyes shut has a few BE points from back in the day!! And shes stunning, registered ISH. Jo Aston has sat on her a few times, quite fond of her me thinks, shes always grabbing the chance to sit on her! And she said shes worth every penny!!

As Park Ranger said 14 is not old!!! If shes a perfect school mistress and she does everything to the book, you are talking around 6k! If she hasnt been worked properly for the last few months and shes not been used to her full potential then i think yeh drop the price to around 4k. Can definitaly get more the 3,500 in my opinion. Sounds a good confidence giver and that you cant put a price on to some riders!
