How much poo does your horse do?!

Loads - but it's hard to tell with some of the horses here in Cyprus as many of them were rescued from starvation so they have the habit of eating it. Mine used to almost do it to eat when I first got her. Luckily this has now stopped with the weight gain.

I did hear of one bloke who stopped feeding a horse he was loaning as he was fed up with clearing up the droppings. poor horse.

Reminds me of a tale from Pony Club Camp, where the stable manager questioned a child why there was only one section of hay in the overnight haynet, to which she got the reply "So there is not so much poo to muck out in the morning!". Of course, she was promptly made to fill the haynet right up!

I tend to poo pick AM and PM so that there isnt (in my mind!!) so much to do, generally Seren (12.2 in foal welshie) does twice as many as Melly (14.2 Fell) but about half the size, and I fill a barrow - normal metal one - each end of the day. They are out 24/7 on restricted grazing!

It's funny because I was just wondering about this whole poo thing this week!! My boy has been on a diet cos he's a bit fatty bum bums, so is on a relatively small paddock with little grass, has a slice of hay a day (thought it'd be less calorific than the new flush of grass we've had!) and has his Topspec daily.

Have been a little worried because he only does around 6-7 poos in a 24 hr period. They're quite dry and 'pellety' too. He's never been a big drinker though apart from when it was scorching, so not unusual for him to drink small amounts but was slightly concerned. Upped his hay to 2 slices a day now - fine in himself though :)
