I was bought a Stubben Edelweiss saddle by my parents about a year ago. The thing is, it's a jumping saddle really, and the horse it was bought for, I never jump any more! It has been on him less than 5 times, and to look at you would never know! The girth straps don't even look used!

The thing is, I have just bought him a new GP saddle, and I really don't see the point in having the stubben kicking around any longer - I will never jump to the level that requires a specific jumping saddle again, so why not sell it? I don't know where to start though - do I approach a saddler, go on ebay, local paper??? I haven't even got a clue how much it is worth! Help!

I sold a more well used, older, stubben a few years back...... all the saddlers I contacted told me to stick it on ebay, as they wouldnt be able to give me very much for it.... so I bunged it on ebay and got nearly £400 for it.......it just depends if there is anyone out there looking for that particular saddle......

I would try advertising it on HorseQuest tack sales. Also look on Saddles Direct as they have a private ads section.

That may also give you an idea how much they are worth.

Stubben saddles tend tohold ther value vwell. Im going to be looking for a Stubben Siegfried saddle. I had one before that i had bought second hand in good condition (was about 16 years old when i got it and had come all the wayfrom south Africa!) but I loaned it to a friend who bloody well sold it on with her horse!! Id ask around at a few saddlers but you'll probably sell it just as easily yourself.

I have 3 or 4 of the things, but the staff moan like hell if they have to actually RIDE in one (being the boss, I don't HAVE to - so I don't!)

I tried an Edelweiss some years ago and it WAS the comfiest Stubben I've ridden in - just didn't fit the horse I needed a saddle for!

Prices for Stubbens on E-bay tend to be VERY variable - depending on size and fit. I bought one 12 months ago in excellent condition for £150

Yeah, I quite like them! :P Had to ride a pointer in a Bates CAIR and felt like i was a bloody mile away from the horse! Have since only ridden (and hunted ) him in a racing saddle! :P
