How much salt to feed?

To a 14hh pony?

I've been reccomomended to add salt to my ponies feed - but don't know how much I should add?

Also, is bog standard table salt ok?

I have always added .5 to 1 tspn per day to my charges feeds, and yes, normal table salt.

Sorry to hijack, but any tips on getting a horse to eat salt?
My horse has a himalayan salt lick in her stable which she won't touch, and she won't eat her food if I've added salt to it. No sign that she needs it, just that she sweats quite heavily when she'd worked and I've been told I should be replacing the salt through her food.

i'd just add it in gradually over a few days or weeks.

I've just got a Himalayan salt rock in his stable which he loves and be helps himself

I have tried salt licks in various forms but my pony is quite, erm "enthusiastic" (read as thug!) about anything bar the bare essentials of water buckets in his stable (and even those are hung up to stop him trashing them)!! Hence, I think I'm safer feeding the salt to him LOL
