I've just been reading an article which has made me realise that I'm feeding way too little salt - I probably only feed an ounce or two. In fact my horse has a few of the symptons mentioned - the one that caught my eye is the "wobbly in the hind quarters" as he has slight wobblers which medication did not touch. Would be nice to think this might help but guess that's being too optimistic.
At the moment he is tending to lick the mud and he loves his salt lick.

So how much salt are you feeding?

I feed about 40gms a day, the larger amount based mainly on the back of what I read on the calm, healthy horses site. It really does seem to be good for my horse though :)

Two ounces of salt is 56g, exactly the top end of the range for a 500kg horse as mentioned in the article :)

Ah yes, I meant I was feeding about 2g not 2oz - need to get my scales/measures out to make sure I don't get muddled !
