I'm sorry for another how much but I really need help. I have some friends who breed Traditional Coloured Cobs (by breed I mean that they jumped on the coloured band wagon and knock out a couple of extortionately priced foals every year). Only now I have fallen in love with one, he is around 8 months old and is lovely, he has such a calm, placid nature. They haven't even had a halter on him yet, he will probably end up about 14hh, how much would you expect to pay?

Well put it this was, they were offered £3000 for a filly foal (about 6 months old) and said no. I asked them in a jokey way if he was for sale and they said yes, I'm going ask but I don't want to sound to eager as they already know thaqt i'm quite attached to him. They are the sort of people who always land on their feet and although the breeding isn't that good they always seem to be able to get someone to pay what they want.

Does the colt have any papers ? breeding lines ?

£3000 for a filly ? It must be well bred surely ?

I would expect to pay £1500 tops although from the description you initially gave

"by breed I mean that they jumped on the coloured band wagon and knock out a couple of extortionately priced foals every year"

I would imagine he's not worth more than £1000 if that!
