novice friend is currently having alot of trouble with her Fell pony that every advised her not to buy, he is quite green and very strong willing so now she wants to sell him.

He is 14hh Black registered Fell pony. Gelding. 8 years old. Broken to ride and drive although green in both areas. Needs a confident rider and handler. Can live in or out. Placed everytime in M&M classes.

What would the market be like for a pony like this and how much could she expect to get? Im no good at pricing...

Depends on how quickly she wants to sell him then. I would say anywhere between £1500 and £2500, people will pay for a nice registered fell, but i would emphasise that he is for a competant adult in his add that way he he won't get passed from home to home when they realise that he is a handful.

Also, i would advise looking how much similar horses are for sale locally. Sale websites are good horsemart is very good, you can norrow down area's etc

I think it would depend on why he is a handful - lots of native pony can become difficult if overfed and not turned out enough.

If his breeding and confirmation are reallly good there might be fell enthusiasts who know how to manage the pony properly willing to take him on and train him up. I would advertise him on the fell pony website.

If he is a potential show pony just green then you could get maybe £2000 for him.

Fells are rare breeds so that does make him a bit more special than a standard difficult pony.
