So... having told sister a 75cm event is too much to expect of a green horse who's never been out, she has decided it's best to get him gone sooner rather than later. I agree.

So....16hh 6yr old bay gelding. Green, but willing. Forward going but safe and sensible. Ideal RC/PC prospect. Jumping 90cm course at home. Loose jumping 1.20m. Good box/shoe/hack.Easy to do in all ways.

any add wording would also be helpful, we don't want him to sound like a nutcase, but not sure as he is a bit 'sharp' feeling that he would be good for a nervous and experienced would be better to bring him on? He is very good, but doesn't plod so wouldn't say quiet?

£2.5k - £3.5k? Not very good at pricing, he sounds like one of those who 'needs experienced rider to release potential'

yes...but how to put that without it sounding bad?
Forgot to add-he is a bit uncoordinated at times and has a funny trot when he gets excited/worried. Improving massively all the time, and he doesn't have particularly stunning paces or anything.
He is a good allrounder, no superstar I think. And I reckon the trot will put off 'proper' people?

Advertise him as a green but willing youngster. Foward going but safe, not a novice ride.

TBH I don't think you'd get much more as anyone who wants serious RC will look at something younger and do all the work themselves.
Anyone who's not serious won't want to put the work in.
Unless he's well bred or proven, then your market will be someone looking for either a cheap RC horse, or someone looking for a project to sell on.

I may be completely off the mark here, but that is just my thoughts on it.

the problem with the market at the moment is that everything is about tripled in price. he is probably worth around 2K but selling him now, he'll probably go for that extra push

the only problem i see is that there's not a paticular 'group' he fits into. he sounds a little bit too forward going for a teenager who wants to perhaps low level SJ and would put time into him but he's not got the 'wow' potential to take an adult further.. between 2-3.5k, advertising him as 'needs kind, knowledgable and experienced home to bring on to RC/PC competion/family horse as has been slowly brought on'

I agree with both of you. Prices are ridiculous at the moment but it seems a bit slow. He doesn't fit into any particular group, but at 6 should be young enough to be a bring on? A bit cheaper than others perhaps.
A teen could ride him no problem (I'm 18, and lightweight sister is 16-no probs), in fact a teen boy would be ideal!
Thanks for those, I'm thinking of advertising for 2. Any other opinions welcome though!
Would putting that a 10yr old can ride him bring any extra interest do you think? Or just say over the phone?
 
If you put a 10 yr old can ride him you are going to get nervous novices ringing, or first time horse owners, of parents wanting a horse for thir kids.

By the sounds of him he is too green/spooky/inexperienced to even consider putting a child on.

Looking at him and hearing about him I would say about £1500-£2000 to be honest, if his paces arent very good and athough he is a nice horse nothing really stands out to me if im honest.
 
Honestly I won't be offended by any price! He isn't spooky, green, but not spooky. I think that's the problem, getting the right person for him as he's green but safe?
 
He reminds me of a horse I veiwed, He too was very sweet and honest, not a novice ride but a long way from a nut case, suit a experienced rider *but not a pro* who want abit of a challange and then to do riding club events, There is a market for this. I think about £2500 becuase with schooling he could probs do some novice courses maybe intro event.

Not so sure this is usually the case, well at least not round here anyway. People doing Riding Club stuff tend to be people a bit like me, ride as a hobby. 6 is still young and something with a nice temp that needs a bit of polishing off might really suit a riding club type wanting a bit more of a challenge and something to bring on a bit themselves?

I'd probably advertise him for 3k and see how you go. Looks like he has a nice pop in him-esp the last pic. The fact he has been xc schooling should make him more attactive to RC types- I also think that if you could get him out to a little clear round or similar it would make a difference.

I would say ask about 2k.
You need to say he's green but could make great improvement with competant rider. i think your original post says it all really. Just put it all down and then vet the person carefully when they come.

I would just say on your advert ' Could go far with experienced rider' Then you dont sound like hes some kind of nutter :P

He sounds like a nice horse just needs bringing on by the looks of the videos he looks abit clumsy but believe me i payed 2k for a 4year old and he was very clumsy when he got to 5yrs but now after alot of grid work he jumps them really well and hes just turned 6yrs now!! He just needs someone who can work with him xx
