I grew up loving the Robinson catalogue, and now I swear I have it all. Multiple rugs for 4 horses, 7 saddles, 5 bridles, God knows how many bits. Saddle cloths, boots, exercise sheets. Hats and boots and high viz.

I've the world's largest first aid kit, every type of rope and rein under the sun, multiple buckets, empty tubs, and so many lotions and potions.

I'm a prepared sort of person, if someone needs something they ask me!

I've moved stables and now have significantly less storage. I can buy a shed or something but my neighbour has a single wheelie bin with saddle, bridle, rug, hat and a couple of brushes and has suggested I might not need it all. Is she crazy?

I have too much stuff and have tried to thin it out but can't do it just yet. I have sold saddles, it's everything else, how many pairs of stirrup irons does a person need 😂
I might have a go at selling some stuff

I've sold quite a lot of stuff in the last 12 months, including a horse. Now have 2 horses, 3 saddles, 4 bridles, loads of rugs and masses of other stuff.
I could still sell a lot but am now in the mind that i might need some of it!!

I’ve sold a lot recently, but still have around 5 bin liners of stuff to go. I’ve usually got whatever it is I might need. The only pony I have now that needs a rug has around 10 of varying types and thicknesses. It was worse when I had a horse that took 6ft rugs as they were so easy to come by in the sales 😂

I think I've been holding onto a lot of stuff because my oldies were getting very old and I expected to get some new horses. Now I have the new horses and they should be my last (they're young, I'm getting older) so I guess any tack and rugs that don't fit can go.

I just seem to have do much random smaller stuff. I buy the 5l bottles of fly spray, shampoo, coatshine, etc. They take up so much room.

And I really do have a better first aid kit than the vet.

That's a very rude question to ask. I would prefer to discuss my salary or my sex life.

Joking aside, I have about five rugs, including heavyweights, that came with my horse when I bought him. None of them are properly waterproof and they're all three inches too small for him, so I've used each one once and then never again. I really, really should get round to getting rid of them somehow!

I buy a lot but also sell a lot, I only have one of every useful thing at the moment and sell the old one once replaced. I don't have a huge amount of storage which helps that mantra, and I've not regretted selling anything yet! I'm sure that time will come though

With First aid stuff, I like to keep enough in to last a bank holiday weekend - we've had horses long enough to know the little darlings ALWAYS know when you haven't and it's a long weekend!!!!!
Also like to have spares of things used nearly everyday and can get damaged like tack, rugs, brushes, buckets etc
I also have a collection of things that are either unusual or not easily replaced such as some bits and my Wels pattern lunge cavesson.

I’m not an accumulator in any area of life, but with horses one does need a lot of stuff. I have no horses now and have sold most of the gear, just kept the things that are special, sentimental or unique. I’ve only three saddles, a few of bridles and head collars, the really fancy bits, spurs and stirrups (my tack is all baroque or medieval, so pretty specialised). I still do kit out horses for film occasionally, and there are some really beautiful pieces that we have made over the years. It’ll probably go into a museum or exhibition display case when I am finally done.

Practical things like rugs, brushes, lead ropes, buckets, etc. all went to a charity.

I just had the most rewarding yard clearout (8 yard skip, although I did chuck some home stuff in too). I always get rid of broken/leaky rugs, leatherwork not worth keeping, old numnahs I wouldn’t use… and the stuff that just accumulates on a yard - broken fencing bits, children’s outgrown hats and broken boots… it was the first real tidy for 7 years. Felt amazing.

I did have a lot of stuff... Sold or donated most of it as we are non ridden now. So only one rug each and a head collar each. Am doing quite well resisting getting a head collar for each of them in every colour!

Far too much as I have not had the courage yet to rehome some of Homey's things which I thought might fit Bert but don't.

Bert is particular so he only likes being brushed using the orange plastic magic brush for his body and face so all the fancy brushes I had for Homey are redundant at the moment.

I have not bought much for Bert, a saddle and bridle, a stable rug I got cheaply off another livery, a LW and 100g rug.

Hardly anything now. Gave away 2 cars worths of rugs, tack and various bits and bobs to Bransby to help them raise funds. Gave my good saddle and clippers etc to my g.daughter for her new horse. Have the bare minimum left just in case the old lady (31 tomorrow) needs anything. When she goes then so does it.

Far too much but I know as soon as I throw something out I'll be looking for it the very next day 😃
I did get rid of my mucking out gloves this morning as a very kind person gave me a lovely new pair. The old ones were held together with duck tape lol

Me too!

Always operating with the thought that it will come in handy at some point in the future..... Whether it actually does I cannot either confirm or deny...!

I am quite sentimental too, my old girl's saddle is absolutely battered beyond all measure and really needs to join the Great Tack Room in the Sky, but I can't throw it out. It means too much to me.

The real question is, do I really need 10 haynets between 2 ponies??

Put it this way, I've been using my hands to move chaff from bag to tub trug and have put off buying sugar beet as I'm not convinced I have a spare bucket to soak it in....

So, so much! It's absolutely bonkers!
Still have all of Rog's things and it's nearly 4 years since we lost him, and very unlikely to own anything that would fit the same.
Renting my own yard means I have plenty of storage which is a bad as I just fill it! A stable full of rugs, boxes of head collars...
And that's before I even think about all the tack at home and the carriage in the garage!

I have 15 farm jackets… that gives you some idea of how much stuff I have.
I have accumulated a huge amount of stuff over the last nearly 4 decades. It even horrifies me. I’ve filled a barn block of 6 stables, half a shipping container and a decent amount of space in a large hay barn, plus stuff at home and in the wagon.

I have that much tack that I reckon I could kit out a small riding school.
I really ought to do an equine car boot sale.

My hand has been forced by the gales removing the back wall of one of my storage sheds.

I've been persuaded to get a skip and clear out the shed as Mr SC wants to rebuild and repurpose the shed as a home for the garden tractor.

Said garden tractor is currently parked in my feed room so it does make sense I suppose.

I am not into useless kit, I just see it as idle money. If it’s not used in 1 year it’s sold. If it breaks it’s replaced. The only exception is bits as will have a few but even then my collection is tiny as very simple in what I do.

I buy once and buy well.
