How much TB do you like in your horses? (if any!)

My current is 100% TB. I may have just been lucky, but out of all the horses I have had, the best ones have always been full TB - by that I mean the easiest to deal with and the most talented at their jobs (BE'ing).

Depends on the TB.

And the job. As a rule, eventers tend to have a higher proportion of TB blood but even that's not carved in stone.

I have to say, though, other than native breeds and other "closed books" how many sport horses today DON'T have TB - and something else, which is likely equally important to the mix - in them? I don't even find percentage dictates type, although specific lines might.

very precise percentages!!!lol

Lots......the more the better, they may be flighty but they aint half as stubborn as dim WB's. Unfortunately tho there are loads of bad uns about and can be high maintenance.......horses for courses, what ever floats your boat and does its job.........so does it really matter?

I like a nice 7/8th or 3/4 bred horse, pref crossed with Irish draught. Love my Thoroughbreds. Saying that though my current horse has the least thoroughbred blood of any horse I've had and is easily the best horse I've had - he is 1/2 TB 1/2 ID.

marieE - the percentages were calculated by paardenfokken:

Fanatical - I'd bet that there's tb blood at the back of the irish side of your 1/2 tb 1/2 irish horse.

Monkey Mad - I adore TB's, my best horse was a full TB.

Totally agree

My mare is 7/8th TB and I put her to an Irish Draught. Perfect for me. I love the full TB but as I am getting older I can't be doing with the flip outs at hedge monsters etc. and the bombing round the field if kept in and the injuries!

50 or 75% would suit me perfectly.
My friend has a lovely 3/4 tb 1/4 shire. He looks just like a pure tb with slightly chunkier legs. He has the ability of a tb but the metality of a shire - you could ride through the heaviest traffic or in the largest of open fields with lots of other horses and he wouldn't stress a bit.

I love my 100% TB's, they're what I know best. Started riding ex-racers when I was about 12 at riding schools...got my own ex-racer when I was 15 and never looked back.

However..I dooo love 50% crossed with WB's, ID's or even sometimes...welsh section d's/c's..hehe

I'm not sure - I wouldn't think so as his sire is a pure bred Irish draught. ;-)

much as possible - well depends on the horse, mine is about 95% (or poss 100% tb) and is very nice, if stubborn and opiononated at times!

50% TB, and a splash of welsh pony does me. That's how I found my current horse, because I just moved off ponies. Anything with good english TB, and some welsh pony, and I'll try it.

I like welshXtb too, that's what my lad is. He's still a pony though!
My ideal horse would be atleast half TB
