Kal gets two days off a week . . . Mondays and one other day during the week. The only time he gets a holiday is if he is poorly or lame. He's a right grumpy so-and-so if not worked/ridden. That said, we do vary his work - so he hacks, works on the flat, jumps, goes round the gallop track and is lunged pretty much every week.
I think it only works out to about 1 day off a week but currently she's only being ridden for about 30mins a day and all flatwork (not yet strong enough to jump).
I'm glad she's not the only one who becomes a pain when not worked!
Normally from april-october mine is ridden everyday but after that only every second day, but last year when we had the snow/ice freeze up here for about 6 weeks, we could hardly bring them out the stable so she had most of that time off until there was fresh snow.
taz hasnt got a saddle at the moment so he is ridden bareback for a hack maybe 2 times a week and the rest is hit and miss but if he has a saddle he is ridden 6 days a week as he is a pain to handle when not ridden as he gets bored
big horse Ruby is ridden 5 times a week - her arthritis means that she is much more mobile if worked more rather than less - mixture of hacking, proper schooling & mooching about in the school [] - usually competes about once a month - altho poverty means we are currently on a break
little Lilly - cos she is only 4 - ridden 3 to 4 times a week plus a groundwork session - very short schooling sessions, bit of hacking - hopefully will be out to first pony party early next year
Ridden depends on what I have on but can be worked between 2-6 times a week.
I generally give her Oct - Feb off. She's out of work just now so I can concentrate on starting/backing my youngster.
Although I relented today and took her up school for 10 minutes as she was getting grumpy. She had a little jump and went back to field happy with herself. Like others, she is a miserable so and so when not working.
Sophie has one or two days off a week. Only because I'm very aware of the fact that she is twenty and I don't want her tired and fed up. We are only hack but we go different routes each so she doesn't get bored and stale. With Will it depends as no matter how much work he does he always seems to look fat and flabby!
Mine doesnt get ridden every day as I only have a paddock to ride in so its very weather dependent. Sometimes I'll go a few days in a row not riding. I also give mine proper time off over the winter (mid-October until about Feb).
