How much time to hear from old owner before going through other channels? also in LST

I sent a letter to the address of the previous registered owner of my horse asking for some details on his time with them but I'm not even sure if the man is still alive :(
How long would you wait for a letter to come back before going through other channels to find out info?

And also just to say I only sent the letter on monday so I'm not expecting a reply until next week at the earliest if they do decide to get in touch but I just want to know how long you'd leave it till going through other channels?

I have the name and number of the vet who did his description page in his passport, he and the owner have the same last name and come from the same area so they may be related but he's in his 80's now so I don't really want to bother him unless I have to :o I just really want to know about my horse's past as I know for sure he didn't come from where I was told he came from by the lady who sold him to me.

Yeah I'm prepared for hearing nothing back as it was a long time ago that he was registered as theirs and they may not remember him or even be interested in talking to me :o Tbh I'm not even sure if the previous owner is alive, I googled his name and came up with a few obituaries but his name is quite common in that area so I don't know :cool:
