How much to charge for livery work?

Hi,
The Livery Yard manager has told my son he is welcome to offer livery services to the owners. She charges 26.50 a week for full DIY and we are in Cheshire. What kind of prices should he be asking for the work? IE.. turning out, bringing in, feeding, grooming, mucking out ect... He has no idea where to begin on pricing!
 
He needs to get care and custody insurance first. Once he knows what that costs he has an idea of his expenses and can work it out from there. Its £1.50 for turnout or bring in at mine, I'm not sure what the other costs are as I don't tend to use them! I think its about £10 a day for full livery services though.

That was the first thing that we knew we would have to look into. Insurance. To cover both himself and the horses he would be working with. He is 16 but has patience and a natural way around animals about him. Over the Winter he was walking a mare that reared up and threw a proper paddy in the school. He wasn't even phased! He just kept hold of her, got her back on all fours and walked her on! Never been shown how to handle that sit. just did it. (This is a normally laid back horse)
 
He needs to be working out what time it takes to do things and then charge accordingly .
I think he needs to be looking at £10 /£12 an hour , so a job that takes 30 mins would be £6 .
Don’t let him subsidise others hobby .
 
I used to pay another livery to do mine alongside hers mon-fri. Her day rate was £12 a day. That included turn-out, muck-out, bring-in, rug changes, feet-picking, feeds and hays and poo picking a couple of times a week. I often prepared haynets and feeds myself and did other jobs on the days I was there so if riding I would turn-out or bring in etc. But would pay her the flat rate regardless. It was just good to know it was done if work got in the way. Working effectively it probably took about an hour a day in all. I’d expect to pay someone specifically coming to the yard travel time too.

He could do a different rate for regular work as opposed to ad-hoc/ short notice as otherwise people take advantage and text early morning for a turn out as they can’t be bothered to get out of bed.

Separate rates are commonly £2-3 each bring in / turn out depending on whether he does rug changes/feet picking. About £6 for a muck out. £3 for poo-picking max one barrowload.
 
Between £1 and £2 for turnout depending on distance and rug changes, £6 for a muck out and £12 for full livery that's muck out turn out and in hay and feeds. This is what I would charge if I still did other people's horses.
