I dont really do much on christmas day so thought about offering my services for turn out/muck out/bring in.

How much do you think would be a reasonable charge for this service.

The livery yard do not offer services to DIY on christmas day so Im not treading on their toes.
 
Well you could charge between £12 and £15 I would think, or say just £4 for bring in, or just £8 for muck out. Work out a load of prices. Some peoplemay not want everything done but may be grateful for bringing in etc :)
 
Bet you could easily charge something like 25 quid...I'm sure lots of people would think "******* it, it's Christmas, I'll treat myself!"

Having said that, me and my (non-horsey) parents and brother used to actually go to my riding school on Christmas morning. Got to give treats to 'my' horse there, they had a treasure hunt and games for the kids, and mince pies and drinkies for the parents. It was always a nice breath of fresh air before the family descended on us later in the day!
 
If you charged £15 for the day or £5 to bring in I think you would have lots of takers as its an amount you can spend without thinking to much. I like going down in the morning and do all the jobs then but would like to have a drink with dinner so would love not to have to go up.
If you don't charge too much you would have most of our yard taking you up on it!
 
I personally love to do my own horse on Christmas Day especially!
In fact, this year I may ask the YO if they have requests to do any liveries' horses, if they mind if I do it instead.
I have been asked to pay £20+ for the day in the past - never taken it up though.
 
We get charged £30 at our yard on xmas day for a days full livery. It is normally £8 per day if you have a days full care.

I like to go and do my own, need a walk at teatime after all that xmas pud!!!
 
I suppose you need to think about how big your yard is and if you really would be prepared to do them all.

I think £20 for feed, muck out, turn out, bring in, pick out feet & rug changes is fair - I'd pay it. £25 for a groom too, or £10 if just mucking out/turning out.

If you have several take you up on it, you'll need to be very organised so horses don't get forgotten!
 
How odd. I have often done the horses on Christmas morning but more as a nice festive gesture for the other people on the yard, especially those with younger children. It would never have occurred to me to profit from it.

I had to pay £50 for Christmas Day 2 years ago.

YO knew I was going away, asked friends but they were unable to help and I had asked for what it would be for YO to do and didn't get a reply...then on Christmas Eve, just after he sliced his leg open, blood EVERYWHERE, me a nervous wreck and dealing with another vet bill, she sent me an arsey text and told me that was what it would be. Had no choice in the matter but to pay.

I don't mind paying something at all if services aren't included as a matter of course, but this one left a bad taste in my mouth - particularly as when we had loads of snow, I helped out at the yard for nothing in return when I was on my annual leave.
 
Deffo at least £20 a day. The girl that used to help me out a few years ago used to charge £8 on a normal basis per horse. I used to double this Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day (when everyone is dying) That was a while ago so I would eat your arm, not just snap it off at £20.:)
 
I'm thinking of offering my services to people this year as long as the YO doesn't mind.

Last year one of the sharers at our yard offered this service - but he wanted to charge £10 for each service, i.e. £10 turnout, £10 bring-in and £10 muckout. The general consensus was that £10 for muckout on Christmas Day was OK, and in the end noone took up his services as they felt he was taking the mickey charging £10 each to turnout & bring in!

I would say £10 muck out but maybe £5 each turn-out/bring-in - as other people have said, a lot of liveries still want to come up in the morning but don't want to be up in the afternoon.
 
I think triple what is normally paid for normal day livery services. That is the going rate at our yard, I think thats quite reasonable for christmas day.

I would offer you £50 turn out, muck out, bring in Chritmas Day. Now please tell me you are in the Essex/Suffolk area!:D
