Went to visit my relatives in Sussex this week, and my cousin has got an 8 mth old choc lab, seemed in good condition except i felt he was a little thin.

He is fed on a dried food which i hadnt heard of (and cant remember) ! I suggested he may do better on raw, but was unsure how much he would need.

Hope the lab peeps on here could give me any advice to pass on to my cousin :D

Thanks:)

If raw, 3-4% of breed standard adult weight. If they stay with dried, just add more. My lot are lean, overweight dogs are more prone to issues, obviously.

I can see the ribs on one dog and that is because he runs like a loony. His brother is lean, I can feel but not see ribs. I'd rather a lean lab than a waddling one, but at 8 months, there's a lt of growing to do so he should not be too skinny. Is his stomach concave? I think that would be worrying.

What dried are they feeding and arethey feeding according to what the manufacturer says? They could swap some meals for raw, chicken legs would be good, they add weight.

Read the sticky and email them the link: it's really useful. :)

Thanks CT, i dont think his stomah was concave, i did check he had been wormed though and he had.
I cant remember the name of the dried food, but it wasnt one that i had heard of.

Will pass on your advice, Thanks.
