How much to geld roughly?

I think my 11.2 was just under £200 it was actually cheaper to leave him at the vets overnight than pay for fallout, and as I'd never had a pony gelded before and would have gotten all daft about the tiniest little issue, I reckoned he was in the best place if anything had gone wrong - which it didn't!
 
There seems to be a massive difference in price, and this doesn't always fit with where you are in the country, size of colt, or how it is done. I wonder why this is.
