Morning peeps, i am having my 1yr old dog castrated today and was wondering how much i can expect to pay? Thanks

Depends on size. We paid £220 but ours is a Wolfhound. lol!!!
You can pay around £100 upwards for a 'normal' dog which usually includes the 10 day check free.

OH couldn't stand the thought of our dogs being castrated so we hd to pay extra for a vasectomy

Why does it cost so much more for a bigger dog... is it something to do with the amount of anaethetic? Is it really THAT much more gas for a bigger dog?
Surely it can't be to do with the size of their little whatsits?

it's the drugs - we use injectable anaesthetics which are at a dose of 4ml per 10kg bodyweight, so end up uses stacks of the stuff for a 50kg dog and it's not cheap. we also include a dose of antibiotics and painkillers in the price which are also more expensive the heavier the dog. and of course bigger dogs breathe more isoflo during the op and isoflo doesn't come cheap either - a big dog can use a bottle in an op!
