 Can anyone top this - looking for best price for Neue Schule bradoon (been looking on eBay but the one I want hasnt come up) - saw one at ok price, but the P&P was £7.50!!!
Ive sold some on eBay and the postage has never been more than £2.00 - needless to say, I didnt buy it!
Phew!

Can beat that - I was after a ns too and was after one on a bit bank basis - one of them had a £12 p&p!!! For one bit, from the uk to the uk, needless to say I went elsewhere!

Yip, I can top that.

I've been a loyal customer of Equiform for years. I am now living in France. Emailed Equiform to order a 5L container of Joint supplement.....
£40 P&P!!!!! Won't be buying from them again! Complete rip off!

However

Bought a brand new saddle from Ideal. Delivered within 2 days to France, big bulky, well packed box.... £22 P&P :) Excellent company!

I think on Ebay its a bit of a problem - I think they make up their money in overcharging P&P, and they think people are stupid and see say 99p to buy it and wont check the p&p. Pretty sure you can report them nowadays for overcharging?

That's ridiculous, eBay's pretty messed up at the moment. They were obviously aware that people were overcharging for P&P so created limits, but unfortunately even they were ridiculous. The limit on all books was something like £1.50, even for quite large thick books.

I have found ebay is getting really getting out of hand on P&P, people seem to start an item at 99p then wack the postage sky high

People do it to save ebay fees - you pay fees on the selling price of the product, but not on postage so people are just being sneaky and trying to up their profit. If you are looking at the whole cost then you can order things you are looking at in ebay by price inc p&p - at least that way you can see a little more clearly the costs and how they compare to other sellers, particularly for buy it now prices.

Well the P&P prices are there for all to see, so they shouldn't come as a suprise :) Thing is you have to factor in so much these days - travel to the PO has to be included if you live a way away from the shops for instance. Best thing to do, as you did, is if you don't like the costs then don't purchase :D

when i send bits out it costs me £5.50 at the P.O. for Special Delivery (guaranteed delivered next day by lunchtime) incl insurance. i don't charge for packing or for taking to P.O.
so, any higher than that's a bit much imho, esp if it's sent in the normal post where it can get lost!

I think eBay are limit in P&P to a quid for DVDs, even box sets, which is ridiculous as it costs loads more.

I just bought a Mark Todd snaffle and the P&P was £2.50, not extortionate but still a bit OTT.

I am ALWAYS on ebay, buying or selling and i agree some of the postage prices that you come across are ridiculous!

I thought ebay were trying to put a stop to this tho.....you see some items with a 99p start bid and the postage price is something stupid like £40 and this was what i thought they were trying to do something about?!? :(

I never buy from ebay so cannot comment there but postage costs are actually very high, much higher than a lot of people realise. Bits are pretty heavy things and to send something weighing between 251 - 500g costs £2.48 as a first class packet.
Last week I sent a fence energiser back to the manufacturer to be completely re-wired (ponies had got hold of it . . . don't ask!) and it cost me £9.75 - I nearly fell over. If I'd sent it first class and to be signed for woud have cost over £13!!!

I buy and sell on ebay and I make those lifelike dolls called reborns, sometimes the postage is as much as 16.00 for Uk and 40+ for europe. (mind you they weigh over 3lbs 8oz.)
I saw a listing the other day and the postage was way OTT ,something stupid it was.
