How much weight do you think a 16hh 5yr old TB could carry (before tack)?

Nice conformation, good condition, fairly fit.

Thanks!

I have a 4yr old TB and I weigh 9stone 2, then she has the tack on her, i wouldn't want more than that on her.
This is me on her.

My 16hh TB (now 11) takes me at 10st and I would expect her to carry a fair bit more with great ease (but she is a solid TB)

My 16hh TB mare (now 14, had since 4) carried me at my heaviest at 9.5stone, but I feel is more comfortable now i'm lighter at 8.5stone, she is a flimsy type though and i'm 5'7 so quite tall on her. I think a lot of it depends on what riding you're doing, and how balanced you are as a rider, also her conformation and build...

Depends on bone and build really, at least 13 stone should be well within her capabilities if not more! If she's fine it will be less, a chunky tb will carry more.

Also consider that a leather saddle weighs a lot more than a synthetic so bear that in mind... There's another TB mare on my yard - also about 15.3-16hh and she easily carries 11-12 stone but she's much chunkier for a TB than my girl...

He looks quite a chunky type of TB, probably a similar build to our 16hh warmblood who quite happily carries my OH out hunting, and he weighs somewhere between 12 and 13 stone.

For comparison:

I would say your horse is a strong type, capable of at leaast 14 stone comfortably, probably above that too. Tbh its impossible to say, if the horse performs well, doesn't have a sore back or soundness issues, that probably indicates that the rider is not too heavy!

14 stone really??? Its probably cos hes mine i think nooooooo but if he belonged to someone else i'd be like 'yeah he can easily carry that much' !!!

TGM - very similar looking!
