how much weight can a 14.2 welsh d carry ?

We never seem to mention the type of horse or pony. Our dales ponies, with the amount of bone they have, are more that capable of carrying more weight than some larger breeds, same goes for a lot of native breeds.

we do, we know it is an 8yo 14.2 welsh cob mare.
Which is why I responded about a 14.2 welsh cob ;)

When I first got my 14.3hh welsh d mare she was carrying the previous owners brother for hacks at around 14st. She is a chunky traditional type and she was reasonably fit but not hunting fit.

A friend asked a few years later if she could have a ride and I unfortunately had to turn her down, I felt bad but friend was over 16st and I was only around 8 and a half. She was 16 by then, fitter than she had been but I felt it was just a bit too heavy for her and she'd been used to me riding. I let my 12st, well balanced friend ride her from time to time with no issue.
Good luck with the weight loss! I hope you get to ride your welshie soon! They're the best :)
