Is 12.5 stone too heavy for a 16hh/16.1hh warmblood to carry.?
Has seemed happy but someone told me i am too heavy and now it has put doubts in my mind should i just carry on or run for the hills

Gosh, no. But then again it does depend on what build he is.

My warmblood is 17.3hh ish and has big thick tree trunks for legs and a really sturdy build. He's had 20st+ on him in his last home, and that was in an extrememly talented and knowledgeable home!

Depends on the build... but I personally think that should be fine if your WB is the old type WB - not the modern type that has a lot of TB in it??? I don't think 12.5 stone is that heavy???

Thank goodness for that i never thought of my self as really big until now made me really depressed.
A good middle weight warmblood not tb like.
I have tried to lose weight but due to tablets i take every day for life i just do not seem to be able to shift the weight.

No. dont think that. i always use this example but TB polo ponies some are as little as 14.2hh have big men sitting on them, galloping about, leaning out at all angles, so if they can manage that then your 16.2hh warmblood will be more than fine

Think a WB can carry that fine but may depend on how they are built and how their backs are trained. My TB is around 16hh and her back physio said she could carry up to 12st if her back was properly healthy and of course if you train their backs accordingly. (she has issues so I am lucky to be a lighter weight but on a healthy horse it seems to be no problem.

His back is checked reguarly and always touch wood fine.
He works happily so i think i will put two fingers up and carry on thank you
Why do people have to be so horrid i wish they realised how hurtful thing said can be to some people.
I wish i could lose weight and hopefully in the future i will to be honest i didnt think 12.5 stone was really heavy shows how wrong you can be

An awful lot of men weighing far more than that ride similar height warmbloods / tbs. Unless there is an injury issue, it is fine.

I have a 16.1 Irish sports horse type, short backed but deep girthed. I am 5'9 tall and weigh 11 st 7 currently, so with all tack etc he is easily carrying 12.5 stone, and he has no problems at all and I don't look big. I have also ridden my daughter's 14hh Connie type pony and although i look tall he has no problem carrying me for a couple of hours out and about. I wouldn't worry, just have lots of fun! x

I have a very dainty 15.2hh TB mare. I am just under a stone heavier then you and my mare is absolutely fine, in the 2 years I have had her she has never had any back problems. She also still manages to throw all her toys out of the pram with me on board

As you can see from this video, no trouble carrying me
