How much weight could my horse carry? He's 10 years old and 14.3hh. It would be for light work, hacking and schooling. (I have a friend of a friend who may be intertested in riding him once a week, she is heavier than both my RI and I and I don't want to say yes if at just over 15 stone she is going to too heavy)
Also would you say he was HW? (I haven't measured how much bone he has yet)

As a guess 16 stone for light work. TBH you know your horse and if he looks like he is unhappy then you know that it is too heavy.

Certainly MUCH more than 10 stone, as my light weight 13hand ponies carry that with ease.

I would say he was HW, or a lighter weight cob.

I love his colour!

I'd say 12/13 stone, bearing in mind the added weight of tack and riding clothes. I would say that your friend is too heavy to ride him - but you will have a much better idea knowing the horse and the friend!

He is not particularly HW, the actual amount of bone is not that substantial - if you imagine him without the feather he would not look to have that much bone.

15 stone is too heavy. Your horse may appear to be carrying her ok, i.e. he is capable of carrying her, but you have to think about the long term implications on feet, joints etc.

If he has 10 -10.5 inches of bone theoretically he could carry up to 16 stone.
Measure his bone size to find that out for sure.
He looks like a heavyweight to me.
My horse is a true heavyweight and has 10.5 inches of bone.
My OH has the occasional ten minute ride and he weighs about 15 st.
Jack seemed happy enough, but was very lively when I got back on - (relief maybe)
Even if your horse can carry that much weight, you have to ask yourself do you really want to do that to him on a regular basis?
Personally I wouldn't.
