Oh boy..... a weight post........... there will now be about a million posts saying "depends on the abilty of the rider, fitness/age of the pony yadda yadda"
you will then get every weight under the sun from 6 stone max to 20 stone max.........
I think its a judgement call, 14hh pony would look a little daft with a tall rider, also depends on bone thickness etc etc maybe picture of ponio with rider might help? what weight were you thinking of putting on pony?
The old Pony Club rule we were taught years ago was that 9 stone was the max for regularly riding a 14hh pony. Which effectively rules out most adults. For anything other than a fully fit and muscled (native-type) pony AND rider I would try to keep it around 10stone.
not a huge amount more than 13 stone, although the new forest pony sociey say in a lot of their literature that a fit healthy fully grown new forest should happily be able to carry a stone per hand they are high, so 14 stone, but not sure I would put quite that much on them regularly.
