Just out of curiosity really (fairly confident i'm not too heavy!

) how much weight do you think a 9yo 15.3 TB ( fairly stocky for a TB) in quite good fitness could carry, in the form of a fairly well balanced rider, to do medium level work- schooling, fast hacks, unaff competitions?
No idea about bone- never measured.
Cheers

As no one else has guessed I'd say 13-14 stone? I have a lightweight at this height and wouldn't want more than 12 stone on him but I am fussy, am sure people will disagree!

No more than 14 stone in my opinion, although the knights in shining armour must have weighed a ton in all that metal gear

I think we can get a bit to hung up on weight carrying now days to be honest.
Its not called horse power for nothing.

I had a 15.3 standardbred (looked like a stocky TB) and he carried 12st easily all day, fast. He also carried 14st for slower, shorter work without a problem but I wouldn't have wanted that kind of weight on for strenous work. He COULD have carried it but I don't see why he should have been made to, as he'd have found it hard.
