How much winter coat have your horses lost?

Thanks for all your replies. I got home from work lunchtime and he was so sweaty (had been in for the morning) so I got a bit more coat off and hosed his chest, belly and between his back legs as he was dripping. He always did feel the heat bless him.
 
I have a blue roan whose undercoat is pale blue, with a longer grey top coat. He is now almost completely light smokey blue, having lost the long winter top-coat. His summer coat is dark grey, so in a month or so he will lost the fluffy winter under-coat and start going dark again. 3 ponies for the price of 1. :)
 
My ISH (winters out either unrugged or with a no-fill sheet on rainy days) is still very hairy, and is complaining bitterly if asked to do any form of exercise in direct sunlight. He has a problem sweating normally at the best of times, so he's really overheating on hot days but able to stay nice and warm (and much perkier) on colder days.

To be honest, I would like the lot to go! But he is good at self-regulating his temperature in winter, so I don't like to interfere too much.

It is good to know he's not the only one in this position :) His field mates tend to be rugged up so have less coat and have shed more, so it's hard for me to find a comparison point.

Spent a good while this morning with a shedding blade, and he is starting to look like his summer self but definitely still a way to go.

We're a good bit north of you in Scotland, and we did have snow cover for quite a while in February, so I'm sure his "climate detector" is a bit confused!
 
Mine is slowly losing hers - there are now large patches of white hair all over the field! She had a mega winter coat this year, first winter she has lived out mainly unrugged, and she has cushings anyway, so she won't be the quickest horse to lose her coat. She normally gets a full summer coat through though. Her field companion is also slow, but always has been. He has his usual panda rings round his eyes - seems to be where he loses his coat first! Our youngsters at work are all still fairly hairy too, although they are definitely getting there.

But in all seriousness my boy still has abit of a winter bum but his shoulder and neck and looking more summertime!
 
Sunny's clip is growing out (slowly) from last year, and her legs and saddle patch are starting to moult, but slowly.
The others, apart from Hanna (36 yrs) and Rowan (6 yrs) have all shed their coats.
 
My cob had his first winter unrugged as out of work and was VERY hairy. He's been moulting for weeks and his field still looks like it snowed! It is also coming out in chunks on his back and leaving bare bits, although his neck and shoulders have a lovely summer coat. The pony has just started shedding properly this week.
 
Im in Spain, 2 of mine are in their summer coats, the other is nearly there, ( and its still chilly at night, and only just gone properly warm in the day) ... they are going to be in for a big shock when I move back to the UK with them
 
Not enough! Still not got proper summer coat on his clipped bits and still rather thick (well as thick as he gets) on the unclipped bits. Sweating like a pig when worked on hotter days atm and he normally hardly sweats!
 
Two younger ones unrugged all winter, two oldies rugged when temps reached minus, all are shedding, interestingly, it's the younger ones losing the winter coat fastest, so far two goings with the shedding blade has most of it off, while my old tb and wb, (tb still rugged overnight) the coats are shorter and taking more effort to get out, I use a rubber curry comb on the tb as he is sensitive skinned, unable to tolerate a dandy brush, will be glad when winter coat is gone
 
Mine are both Welsh D, not old not young. One was unclipped and I took her rugs off in Feb as she was wintering a bit too well. She has a tiny bit of winter coat left on her rump but I think at this rate it will be all gone in a couple more days. She started shedding ages ago though, way before my other one plus she doesn't grow that much coat.

The other was chaser clipped in Jan, she has summer coat growing on her clipped bits and has quite a bit of winter coat still on the rest. She had rugs off a month ago as she was too hot. She is shedding like crazy, I'm hoping she will lose it quite quickly as she is so hot and sweaty when ridden. I think next Jan I will hunter clip her instead.
 
Gem was clipped out so doesn't/hasn't grown a coat but Hugo (my 3yo) who i show - so need hairless, has been in a heavyweight from Nov/DEC time and still in it now - hasn't lost much at all! His neck, which has been out a bit on and off is pretty much summer coat - all but a bit of fluff .. but the rest of his body is seriously hairy :(! First county show in 3 weeks.... hears hoping he drops the rest quickly!!!

*i'll add that even though he is out in HW he isn't sweating or getting over hot - learnt to regulate temp really well now!
