I have been offered another shoot to pick up on. A huge compliment and I am delighted. My boss may not be but it is only until Feb!
It does mean that this year Tawny will be doing 4 days one week, 2 days the next. Only two days are consecutive but they are the harder, longer days. Is that asking too much? She is incredibly fit and I do try not to let her waste her energy but often this time of year we go miles looking for odd birds.
I don't want her to have 'burn out' and she is no good at self regulating. I think I wouldn't hunt a horse that many days, and it must be similar both mentally and physically.
On the plus side I can always take another dog as back up although one is old and one young so she would still bear the brunt.
Thoughts please?

I wouldn't pick up four days a week with only one. I do four back to back days often with 3-4 dogs as a pack and have previously done a day picking up, a trial and two days beating back to back with one dog but it was a once off.

I give them extra fat in their feed if I know they will be working hard and a snack at lunchtime.

Thanks Druid, I think you are right.
I always feed mine at lunchtime anyway, they get half a tin of dog food each. Stinky!
