To bring in, wash off, f/h/w and muck out someone's horse a day? i have been asked to do this for a friend of a friend, the horse is also at a different yard to mine, Thanks
I pass the yard on the way to my yard, so its 5 minutes from home and 5 minutes from the yard, my yard is 10 minutes from my house, i was thinking in the region of £10 a day just wanted to check I wouldn't be over charging, thanks guys
In fairness I would say a little steep if you aren't going out of your way and if you aren't turning out too. I would at least drop off a few quid. I pop mine out in the morning and the stables are mucked out, all hay, water and feed is put in ready and I get charged £5 per horse. I then have them brought in at £1 per horse.
I cycle by push bike to the yard and would have to change my route to get their which means it will take me longer to get to my yard i've also taken this into consideration for the price. by car i would go past the road the yard is on but by bike i go cross country as its quicker.
I normally charge £10 an hour for grooming work. The above should only take about 30 minutes unless horse is particularly filthy, or owner very particular that they want an absolutely spotless bed! I'd say around £7.50 if you were doing this regularly, any less and it's not really worth the effort/time and you may find yourself rushing in order to get to other jobs.
I think if you considered this from a self-employed basis then you would probably have a minimum charge of £10, regardless of how far you had to travel. If you had to travel a distance then you'd add mileage.
