Looking to purchase a 7yrs coloured hunting pony, 3 seasons experience, jumps everything!! , goes on point, stands, front or back of field and can lead children from. 14hh cob type. Safe but fun for lightweight adult to take out 11.2hh missiles with the children! He seems expensive but would appreciate your opinions on what is a fair price.

I would say £4K personally if he was a useful sort too outside the hunting field but there is a huge difference in prices between ponies that seem to have similar experience so who knows!

I'm not sure to be honest, i'd usually say that he'd be worth his weight in gold!

However, the market is soooooo rubbish at the moment. I have a friend who has a 13.2 9 yr old NF pony, same home 4yrs, well hunted (father is a Master) also done PC, full history known, very straightforward. They can't sell it for £1500. I'd have thought it would have easily got 3K any other year.

How much do they want for the coloured cob? Just interested as i'll have one to sell in the Spring :-)

In the region of 3k, It does all sorts as well as hunting, done SJ and XC, but most importantly is safe. Will post a picture.....

I agree with all the above posts. He should be worth around £4-5k. But in today's world, with the way everything is tbh you'd be lucky to get £2k for him. Especially if all he can do is hunt. You may get more if you could class him as an allrounder. This is no way near his true value i know, but people are struggling and why buy something when you can get it 1/2 price somewhere else. I know its sad but unfortunatley its true. I do hope he finds a lovely home and you get the money you want for him.

We sold the 17yr old version of him that did all pc activities as well (proper schoolmaster) for just under £2k. If he had been ten years younger he would have been worth at least double.

I am looking to buy the pony, not sell. The problem is finding something safe enough to accompany an 8 year old off lead out hunting and paragons of virtue are few and far between!!

£3k minimum if it won't do dressage or maybe even SJ (so hunts, XC, and then has the summer off type), but a good hunting pony can go for double that easily especially in the height bracket you want.

Well we must have just bought a bargain then.....!

I paid £2500 for a little 14.1hh hunting cob for my son, 5 yrs old, hunted in Ireland and also been in hunt service over here for a short period to help with hound excercise.

He is exactly as what was described - suitable for me and my son to hunt, jumps everything, good with hounds, does gates etc.

Although he has not had much schooling, he can walk/trot/canter around the school neatly and pops a sj without batting an eyelid at fillers, is safe to hack out and easy to handle. My son will take him to PC after the hunting season and see how we get on.

He has not put a foot wrong in the the 2mnths we have had him and think he is worth a lot more!

Depends on the pony and area but anywherre between £3-6k bigger question is considering the safety aspect and the list of musts that you have what is it worth to you and is it within your budget
