As above really........

Took on a horse as a 'favour' for a friend. Basically he arrived horrendously lame, in dire need of care and attention. It has been a rollercoaster ride, but at the moment<<<<touch wood>>> he's come sound. It's taken 3 solid weeks of vets visits, drug administration and care to get him to the happy chappy he is.

I have said I'll keep him till February and then he must return home. I have not charged her for this (i have my own land and stables) but she has been liable for all vets bills.

I have today been rung about 2 further horses. One a laminitic pony (numpty owner has just let it gorge) and an ex racer with several abcesses that the owner is struggling with.

I do not have room until Harry goes home in February, but am considering doing some kind of covalesence livery for these people. Obviously word gets around quickly and I do enjoy the caring side to this.

How much would you charge?? I'm in Devon btw so prices for diy is about £20 a week for stable and turnout.

I would think £130 would be steep (but may depend on what sort of care/time you would have to put in aside from normal care/muck out etc.) Closer to £100 I would think if pony/horse needs regular vet visits/farrier(and therfore you need to be there to hold etc) or handwalking then a bit higher(maybe £120). However IF I were in a situation where I needed rehab for my horse (and i couldnt handle the horse) i wouldnt expect to pay that much.
Will you need to do anything for these horses apart from what I have written and essentially part livery(ie bring to spa/walker etc)?

I'm about to pay £150 a week (plus vat) to sned my horse to the vets, where he will be stabled and put on the horsewalker or walked in hand twice a day - in Berkshire so will be more expensive than where you are

Well it's full livery, plus time and treatment. So I'd agree with at least £130 but would be inclined to charge more.
