How Much Would You Pay For Ted? *PICS*

I wouldn't buy him. Your way to big. Sorry. I know ponies like this are fun to play with but leave them to tiny people! He may be comfortable with you now but in a years time he'll prob have a bad back.

Faberge - my first thought was concern at the jumps.

I also think you are too big and at 17 you may grow a bit more also. He may be fun now but i geuss you need to think longer term also.

Okay, no one bother posting anymore. I asked for opinions on how much he's worth, not how big I look on him. I know my pony and know if he's struggling with me or not, and I can assure you he's not. Thank you to everyone who was helpful and answered my question, everyone else .. you can take your critique else where.

people are only offering their opinions and voicing their concerns as they have a right to do on an OPEN forum....if you do not like it take your question elsewhere

It's unfortunate that you are unhappy with the opinions that were posted, but if it was my little pony I wouldn't be happy with the opinion that he could carry 9 - 10st. I personally think that is way too much for him and he is not that stocky.

Sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear, but at the end of the day, the pony's welfare is surely the most important thing to you and there are plenty good little child riders who could offer him a good knowledgeable home too.
Surely his present owners should be aware of that too? It seems a bit mercenary that they would loan such a little youngster out to someone who is your age and height, let alone then sell him to you.

Woah. Why on earth are you looking at buying a little pony when you are 5'7? He doesnt look that stocky to me and you look massive on him. You may think Ted carries you fine but i'm sure a pony of his size shouldnt be carrying you regularly. And he's so young. Cant be doing his back good. I know this isnt answering your question but we are just trying to open your eyes to the welfare of the pony.

Okay .. firstly to say, sorry for my last post on here .. I lost my temper and think I wrote that hastily without really thinking about it, after having a think I now realise it would come across as rude, its just I've explained many times my reasons and yet some people dont appear to be reading them.
As for the first jumping pic, yes I agree the buckets are in the way, but, he was introduced the fence with it slowly getting wider, I didnt just aim him at that and expect him to know what to do. I chose that picture as I thought it would show off his talent.
As for being too big for him .. yes I'm tall, but I only weigh 8 an a half st. I do look a lot bigger as I wear loads of layers as I get freezing even when riding (I still walk around in the summer in a coat on the hottest day). Ted is a lot stockier than he looks. A friend came to see him and she agreed the pictures do no justice and make him look finer than he actually is. Under the feather is thick bone.
Hope this makes people understand better now.

ETS - I appreciate you all being concerned for his wefare, but believe me, I would never have started loaning him if I was too heavy for him. I check his back everyday for any signs of pain (working with racehorses who need to be checked everyday it has become a habit). So thank you again, but I wouldnt put him at risk if I thought I was too heavy for him.

I think she wants to buy him because she loves him and provided she stops riding him when he struggles (which she has mentioned she will) I think she'll make him a very good owner and friend.

Some people wonder why I have a carthorse, I wonder why some people have ugly spindly TBs etc but the common denominator is because the owner loves them.

Thank you so much, it's nice to know there are people who understand what I'm saying

I think he looks a little dude!
if you introduced the first jump properly then i think its fine..... and does show his talent, but Id do those as a one off and build up the jumping gradually etc (but u know that!

)

Id agree on pricing around £1k from the pictures etc as although he is a bonny horse and obv v talented, he still has a lot of growing/bulking/muscling to do.... as he progressess tho I think this price will increase.

You obv care about him, and so long as you are sensible i think ul have a great fun partnership (just dont expect to be doing foxhunter classes on him!

hehe )

The only thing I would add is that at 17, you probably think you'll be able to keep your present weight easily. However as you get older, you will naturally fill out as you become a womanly rather than a girlish shape, and at 5ft7 even at a stone heavier you'd still be slim. Its my personal opinion that buying this pony will only lead to heartbreak as you won't be able to ride him for much longer, but its obviously your choice. I'd agree around £1000 is the right price for him.

Lucy - thank you

he is a great little pony
smile.gif
.. atm he's having time off because of the snow etc so hopefully he'll be keen to start his jumping again

we generally dont jump that wide, I mainly work on different types of jump rather than width or height although I know he can do it
smile.gif
Tbh I doubt his owner would really think of all the work being done with him, just the fact he would have a good home (and maybe the money) would be enough for her I think

Spiral - thanks for your opinion, tbh I didnt really think of the naturally filling out, but since I've loaned him I've known I would love to buy him eventually .. but I also always knew that I wont be able to ride him forever.

BOF - haha ermm I think thats a compliment so thank you

(but please dont eat my pony
