Would like to know how much this chap would be worth....

16.2hh
Bay
Gelding
Rising 6
CB x (sadly no real papers but is passported)
fully vaccinated.
loads & travels in a box or trailer
lives in or out
100% to handle in and out of the stable (infact he doesnt even need a rope to be brought in from field he'll just follow)
Green on the flat and over fences but coming on nicey and with more work would be a super fun allround horse. Does have nice paces though and is learning his jumping and is enjoying it.
100% to hack and in traffic.
Will happily lead and ride
Currently ridden by experienced and novice riders and never put a foot wrong. would make great family share horse, something for parents to hack and teens to compete on.

located south east

if you look on horsemart there is really relatively little you can buy for 2k, especailly that is sane and suits novices and experienced riders. Especailly in the SE people will pay good money for a horse which is safe even if green

I'd say £3,000 - £4,000 if he's got that good a temperament as you can improve lots of the other bits with schooling but temperament is what I would go for first unless for an experienced rider looking for a challenge.

I would say about £3.5 - 4k without tack and depending on conformation- he is young enough to bring on and would make a great hunter (CBs usually do!) Bearing in mind he wont be fully mature until he is 7, he may even grow another inch (mine still hasnt stopped growing at 6).

Not sure that he would be suitable for a complete novice - I just dont think CBs are - they are incredibly strong and can be very stubborn (I have had manay conversations with my CB youngster over the last 2 years). They do have good temperaments but 16.2+ is a lot of horse to handle through the teenage years.

I would advertise for 3-4K depending on how green ie is he jumping a course?
We sold a 6yr old for 2.5K, he was pretty but very green i.e just jumping 70cm. We had a offer of 3K that was withdrawn when he failed a vet (he has passed two vettings, failed one), so he would have gone for that if he passed.

Sounds just my type - shame that my daughters horse is out on loan with possible view to buy. I told the loanees that they could have pretty much as long as they wanted - typicaly there have been several nice sounding horses availble since then - doh

As to price I would guess £1000!

Sorry - wishfull thinking. ATM I would have thought around £2500 - £3000, in a couple of months, or with a little more work £3000 - £3500.

Good luck - I presume you are selling!
