I have a lovely gelding I am considering selling at the end of summer (not an ideal time I know but I want one last season with him) purely because I am training to be a Doctor and feel in the coming years I won't have the time he deserves. just looking for an idea of how much he'd be worth. Have put details below:

15hh 10 year old Grey IDX (no actual breeding but a true middleweight type, stamp hard to find)
Ex riding school - can put anyone on him including complete novices
Well schooled - great BD record, scores of 70% at novice, many wins and always placed, hopefully will move up to elementary shortly
Jumps a course around 90cm, has done XC but not much local to us so could do with some work in that area.
Good to hack, not bombproof but safe. Better in company than alone. Good to hunt.
Loads like a dream and very easy to do at shows, good to clip, catch, shoe.
*TOUCHING ALL THE WOOD* not a sick or sorry type, no lameness issues

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

At this moment in time you could name your price really but I’d say around £8k. At the end of this summer, who knows what the market might be like, it might still be booming or the a*se might have fallen out of it along with housing market which is also booming right now.

He looks like an honest sort.

I've been going through the local online ads for horses in Australia for sale at the moment and very few ads look genuine to me. Maybe a handful. He is one I'd put in the genuine category.

Are you sure you want to part with him he will be hard to replace .Might you be able to share him with someone .

I'm open to options and he will only go to the very best. I'm trying to be realistic about how hectic my working life will be as he deserves someone who can devote lots of time to him.

He will be an exceptionally marketable type.

I would put him in the 8-15k bracket, which sounds quite wide, but will depend on what he achieves this summer (ie some good ele placings, confident Xc etc), what the market is doing when you come to sell, what shows up on a vetting and importantly, but difficult to portray in this type of post, the ‘feel’ he gives when riding.
