How much would you pay for this project?

A stunning 16.2hh TBX, 11yo mare.
Good to shoe, box, handle. Well behaved at shows, always loads. Hacks alone or in company. Excellent paces with nice jump, scores of 70% elementary dressage, has a couple of BD points. Ready to compete.
Problem is she bucks, she has had her back checked and came back fine. She tends to buck when schooling at home when in season. She frightened current nervous owner so now has a experienced rider riding her at the mo and this rider rides her through the bucks and she doesnt buck as much now.
The thing i dont understand is, when owner bought horse last year, mare passed a 5 stage vetting and was fine for the first 3 months (didnt buck) ? Owner says she just tries it on.
She does weave if not in a routine. Ridden in a happy mouth snaffle.
How much would you pay? I am after a 'project' horse, she does sound a lovely horse if i can overcome the bucking? I have seen lots of pics of her competing and being ridden.
I guess I am just worried incase she does have a 'back problem' hence the bucking

So, how much please? (baring in mind, this horse is about 3 hours away so would have to hire transport!)
 
It's a really tough one! What would she be worth if she did not buck? I would say around 6,000 because of the current climate, the lack of a competition record (would expect more than a couple of BD points at 11) and her age which is just on the cusp of getting on a bit (in terms of value I mean!).

If the bucking is a behavioural problem associated with her season and not something that would bother you, I would say around 4,000 would reflect the fact that she need a good rider who can sit to her bucks.

If the bucking is caused by an underlying physical problem, then it could depend on what that is, whether it can be treated, how much the treatment would cost, etc., so she could be worth anything between 2,000 and nothing.
 
I would get a second opinion on her back. Then if that was fine I would pay about £2000 if she was a nice ride when you try her and the bucks aren't terribly malicious.

i guess it is a risk i would have to take!
 
TBH, I think if she's had the rider off then she's learnt a trick & a spell of professional schooling will probably knock it out of her. Also, mares can be verrry sensitive in their belly regions when in season so I'm guessing they're aggravating her.

If she passes a 5-stage and you can get her for under £2k then you might have a good horse on your hands.
 
Was the first 3 months that she didn't buck in the winter? Has she ever had her ovaries scanned or been tried on regumate?
If she's only bucking when she's in season i'd want her scanned before purchase by a decent vet.
 
wouldn't touch it with a bargpole as something to sell on... to many little niggly issues and in my experience bucking is something that never goes away completely in any horse.

if it is for yourself to keep then £1000 tops
