How Much Would You Pay - Sorry

[ QUOTE ]

She does have good breeding so I guess would make a broodmare. Not sure about the pink papers, probably I guess. No-one else is interested, it will either be doing nothing in a field or sent to a dealer. She has just been sent back by a pretty experienced sj rider because she exhibited the above behaviour at a show, but they only had it a few days. I have to say I didn't find her _that_ difficult, at least I thought it very possible to work with.

I have offered but been turned down, would just like to hear what other people think is reasonable before saying how much.

No, she won't "make a broodmare" - temperament is as important a factor as anything else! From the descriptions you have given, she sounds worthless and dangerous. There are plenty of good, well-bred, well-mannered, useful horses out there . . . . it's a buyer's market at the moment

I agree with virtually all of you. Anyway, I offered £2000. Turned down. They are looking for, wait for it, £5000! I think they would accept £4000 but to be honest even if went up to £3000 I think I would be over-paying. I think its a pride thing as much as anything but she's not badly treated in this home, just that she would benefit from more indvidual attention, living out and not being ridden only in the school in draw reins only in walk or trot by the yard rider who is scared of her.

The rearing - there were only two and pretty controlled, clearly designed as a rider frightener, forelegs waving out in front very artistically. When I burst out laughing instead, she gave up on that and went forwards nice and straight. She clearly enjoyed being hacked and has a lot of energy and is so keen to work. I personally think I could get her going like a different horse in 2 months - I would go in the school a maximum of once a week, otherwise I would school on hacks, do some very low intro jumping a couple of times intially like 80cm, do some cross country, etc..

Sometimes a horse just gives you a good feeling and I don't think I did myself any favours by getting her going well on the trial and showing how quickly she could be turned around.

But sadly I am going to walk away as the only point with a horse like that is if you can get them cheap. She has clear sj potential but is already 9 and is still eligible for British Novice, though placed Newcomers twice at her only attempts - 15 months ago.

I'm wondering this too! TBH, I personally wouldn't touch this horse. If you really really wanted it then I guess you might pay £1k for it if you were really keen.

Oh sorry Magic_Magpie and Charlotte. I don't really want to say, its a horse at my yard, its no-one well known and no-one has been schooling her. The owners have also become good friends of mine so I don't want it to look as if I'm slagging them off - I'm not, they are very nice owners. Just this horse would respond to more one on one attention I think.

If you are interested in buying the horse (god help you!) I will put you in touch if you pm, likewise pm me if you know of anything similar at not such a silly price because I'm on the lookout for a good jumper!

Np, totally understand. What I would say is that breeding really doesn't matter in this case as I would hope nobody would breed from her (people should only breed from excellent horses with good temp/attitude etc.!).

I think she would improve if left out 24/7, mine would go nuts too if they were stabled much let alone 24/7!! I just dont know if you could show jump her... You could probably get her right to calm down flatwork-wise but sounds like she's really got issues with her jumping if she's thrown in the towel now. Can you try and have a lesson on it with someone like Andrew Hamilton when he's next up? He could advise on what he thinks could be done with it?
